motherboard GA- M52L-S3P (rev 1)
Hi all. Iam updating my CPU to a Phenom ii x6 1090T. I need to update the bios. Tried installing and running Bios version F5 from Gigabyte site, but it will not run. Can someone help and tell me why. thanks

have you checked the CPU Support List.
according to this; https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-M52L-S3P-rev-12/sp#sp the X6 is not supported.

what error are you getting when upgrading the BIOS?

Hi. thanks for replying. It says Support for Socket AM3/ AM2+/ AM2 processors. The Phenom ii x6 is AM3 so I thought it would be the right one. Not getting an error message. when I click run, a black window flashes up and disappears.

Have to agree with @Bruce that processor is not supported. Referring to where it states processor no where does it state a ii X6

What I would suggest that you contact Gigabyte and confirm that it is and or is not supported by that motherboard.

Information form here

From the Manual can be found here

Here is another site showing that the CPU is not compatible

Bit of a long shot but can you put the previously used CPU back in place, then update the bios? After the bios is updated try your new CPU, and if it works it's all good, if not refer to posts 3 and 5.

I dont know yet. Got to wait for my friend to install it. Oh i didnt know RAM has to be compatable as well. Hope it is. I only wanted to play the new Age of Empires game. Its cost me £200 so far just to play a £15 game!

Sorry Bean1 but going off topic in a thread is frowned upon, confirm that all of the other hardware is working as it should and then someone can look at the case question.

Before worrying about fitting the board into the case the MB and other hardware should be assembled outside of the case and tested on a non conductive surface such as the box that the MB shipped in.

Sorry i went off topic. Theres no way i can test motherboard outside of the case without disassebling my other pc, which im using as a guide for connecting new motherboard.

No worries but had you explained what was going on we would have understood.

For clarity, are you trying to connect an RGB splitter to the same type of board as in the link here

Can I ask that you do not quote every reply, it really does not help any and just makes for unnecessary reading, thanks.

The answer is the same as it would have been for the Gigabyte MB, you cannot connect the RGB splitter to the board as it is not compatible, RGB lighting wasn't around when those boards were state of the art so there is no 12V four pin header on the board to power the lights.
