checking for the update I had a message saying it was now available so I clicked on download, eventually I got a message saying that it had failed but I could try again, has anybody got an idea why this happens and if I need to make some changes,? I have gone down the trouble shooter route as well. thanks in advance

I have been onto Microsoft help and they sent me a link, but when I used it it still failed siting network issues, thanks for the reply

Microsoft have sent me an ISO file which I am downloading now, what are the dangers of installing this over an existing installation

Have you tried resetting the update components?
Open cmd prompt/powershell with admin & enter:
Net Stop bits
Net Stop wuauserv
Net Stop appidsvc
Net Stop cryptsvc
Ren %Systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore DataStore.bak
Ren %Systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution\Download Download.bak
Ren %Systemroot%\System32\catroot2 catroot2.bak
Del "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr*.dat"
Net Start bits
Net Start wuauserv
Net Start appidsvc
Net Start cryptsvc
Restart the PC & try updating again.

And/or:
Search for services.msc & find Windows Update & ensure it is set to Automatic.

thanks for the reply, I had Microsoft support help and their solution is to reload W11 so I am creating an iso disc as we speak fingers crossed

still will not install, error:-ox8007000D-ox2000C
the installation failed in the SAFE-OS phase with an error during APPLY_IMAGE operation

I received the file from Microsoft support, using this file I created an ISO file on a usb drive then proceeded to do a reinstall of W11 as this take time I was away from the computer while it installed it when I later checked it said it was unable to install, with the message I posted earlier

on my second attempt the installation seems to have worked, although so far have not seen much difference but early days, thanks for your interest

I have done, I have now found some of the improvements I was hoping for and it may change the way I use my PC, once again thanks
