I currently have an Asus Tuf x570 Plus motherboard and an RTX 3080 as my main GPU for gaming. I have an nVidia Quadro 410 that I put on the secondary PCIe slot (not the furthest from the CPU). When I turn the computer on, Windows sees the Quadro as GPU1 and the 3080 as GPU2.

My computer seems unstable afterward. All the monitors will flake out (like it's being unplugged). The running game will close. Wallpapers will get screwed up. There is one game that would not even launch, would crash after launch.

Anyone have any thoughts on why adding that card would cause all these issues? Thanks!

You cannot put two completely different GPUs in a MB and expect them to work, apart from the age the two cards need different drivers to be installed and are years apart in their technology, you are lucky not to have blown your MB by trying this.

That is not correct. You might get stability issues in Windows (which is what I got) but it won't fry your motherboard. I have been building computers for 25 years and in IT for 17 years. I also consulted someone who probably knows more about computers than you can I combined, he agreed.

Having to have two different drivers is no big deal, that's like having drivers for WLAN and LAN cards. It's two different pieces of hardware, having two different drivers is 100% expected and won't hurt anything.

You CAN also have an ATI and Nvidia on two separate PCIe slots and it works. Maybe not WELL, especially for gaming but you can run multiple monitors off both and they'll work.

I only reached out to see if anyone else has had issues with running two cards on the x570. Might be the BIOS on that board or something.

We will have to agree to disagree I`m afraid.

Nowhere in my reply #3 was it said that using two different GPUs in a MB would fry your MB, what was said was "you are lucky not to have blown your MB by trying this."

Putting a Windows XP supported workstation card from 2012 that costs less than $25 on ebay should not be used anywhere near a 2020/21 specification PC and especially one that has an RTX 3080 that at this time can cost upwards of $1100, why you are risking this makes no sense.

Blown is the same thing as fried no? Not sure what else blown would mean?

Chipset and date won't matter aside from working well in Windows. There is no hardware risk involved (aside from the card being physically bad and causing some form of power feedback damage. This card was pulled out of a computer running Windows 10 and was known working.)

Not sure I understand your thinking there is a risk to the other hardware (again unless the card is actually bad). Can you explain why you think there is a risk? Maybe there is something I'm not aware of. But just because it's an old cars with an old chipset does not produce risk.

The point that was trying to be made was that by messing about with such an old card in a top of the range PC was risky, not that two different GPUs would blow up the MB.

Remove "you are lucky not to have blown your MB by trying this." from what was post in my reply #3 and you are left with the below and I think that it should just be left at that.

You cannot put two completely different GPUs in a MB and expect them to work, apart from the age the two cards need different drivers to be installed and are years apart in their technology,

Sorry man, that's just not right. They MAY not work but that does not mean they WON'T and trying it is not risky. Worse case the PC won't boot until you take the old one out. Mid case is Windows is flaky (what I got). Or it works. Nvidia control panel saw the card and controlled the card and monitor attached to it. It was just flaky.

All I am saying is you make it sound like a hardware risk, to damage other hardware. You cannot "expect" it to work, but it very well could.

Hardware risk 100% and that is enough reason to not to mess about with an archaic GPU.

I have been building computers for 25 years and in IT for 17 years. I also consulted someone who probably knows more about computers than you can I combined, he agreed.

All them years experience yet you are asking why an obsolete $25 GPU will not work alongside hardware and software from 2020/21, hmm

This sounds like a work of fiction and the name Frankenstein`s monster comes to mind

LMFAO. It's perfectly reasonable to think it will work. It was working just fine in a Windows 10 machine. If I took out my 3080 and just ran the 410, it will work too.

I was more asking about people who have the x570 and their experience running two GPUs.
