Toshiba Laptop became slow.

Toshiba model S50-B-13D
Windows 10

Couple of month ago my original hard drive died and I've replaced it with an old one i had lying around the house. My laptop came back to life with new force and i was rather happy.

2 weeks ago it started slowing down, especially after it awakes from sleep. I thought it was hard drive again and replaced it with SSD.

But no, issue still remains. Some times it wakes up and you need to restart it because its unusable. But in general it feels like everyhitng takes that 1 second extra to load. It's very good visible in Chrome when you open the new page.

I figured it may be RAM, i have 2 stick 4 gig each. I did Windows RAM test, but nothing was found. I removed 1 stick at a time and did the test again, still nothing found but PC still works slow.

I have no clue what can cause such behavior.

Any solution is welcome, as this is not the best time to invest in new PC.

Regards.

Hi there @MadeInRu and Welcome to PCHF :)

We need more specs about your PC. Are you able to tell us:

SSD Make and Size:
RAM Size:

Also, can you do the following for me as well?

Please download MiniToolBox and save it to your desktop. Run the program by right clicking on it and selecting Run as administrator. When the program opens select the following boxes:

Flush DNS
List Winsock Entries
List last 10 Event Viewer Errors
List Installed Programs
List Devices (Only Problems)
List Users, Partitions and Memory size

Please post the log in your next reply :)

Hello, thank a lot for quick response!

I have Kingstone A400 240 gb hard drive.
8GB of RAM - 2 stck of 4.
This test only shows 4gig of RAM because i removed 1 stick of RAM for testing.

Is this a licensed version of Windows?

Yes, it is. Laptop originally came with Win 8.1 and i used upgrade program for Win 10 upgrade. I had to create a bootable USB stick on another PC because my original hard drive died.
So i have no clue what it means, but my windows is licensed.
From what i understood, Microsoft will know it from my PC and i can only change hard drive to keep the license.

I've done some research, and it appears W10 has issues waking up from sleep and hibernation. Is your Windows 10 fully up to date? You should be running version 1803. Also go to Check for Updates and ensure all updates are on your PC.

Hello guys,

Sorry was busy.

This is what happened:

Last sunday i got tired and simply put all memory back in and reinstalled the windows again. Windows version was 1803.
No thing changed and my laptop was still slow after sleep mode or lets say 30-50 minutes of constant work.

Next day i took it with me to my work, to double check it with colleagues, but there was no time so i just took it back home.

Because it was a busy week i just got tired of all of that and plugged it in. It my only PC so i just need to restart it.

But o wonder, for some reason it works fine again since that moment.

I have no clue what was wrong and why it was acting like that for almost a month, but now everything seems to work just fine.

So thanks a lot guys for help! :)
