So I recently started having an issue where my computer monitor will go black for 1 second and then go back to normal. (just like if you were to change resolution in Windows) yet when the screen comes back on I notice that all the whites are oversaturated. It's as if all the text on the screen is fuzzy as well.
THINGS I'VE TRIED: I have replaced the HDMI cord. I have used another HDMI port on the monitor. I have updated the graphics drivers to the current build. I have COMPLETELY factory reset the PC just in case some malware or third-party app was causing the issue. nothing has fixed the issue other than replacing the GPU entirely which I have done with a loaner one for the time being and the problem is seemingly fixed.
NOTEWORTHY THINGS I'VE NOTICED: Things that seem to trigger the screen turning are anytime I play a video, open a new tab, open an application, etc. I've noticed that unplugging the HDMI from the GPU and plugging it back in will fix the issue temporarily, that is until I trigger it to happen again as mentioned above.
WHAT I BELIEVE THE ISSUE TO BE: The GPU in question is a GTX 1050ti OC edition by MSI fresh out of the box with less than 200 hrs of light gaming. I also monitor it well and it has NEVER come even close to overheating or really even exerted itself much in its life. So I am fully positive that the issue is not anything physically wrong with the GPU itself. I believe it to be a driver issue, but as mentioned I have already updated them. and trying to roll them back to a previous version I am met with a prompt saying "The best drivers are already installed on your device"
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
