Solved Stuttering in Game after upgrading CPU, GPU, and MB

Hello, I recently upgraded my CPU, RAM, and the MB. here are the specs
CPU: i5-9600k
GPU: GTX 1060 6gb)
RAM: Corsair vengeance 16gb (3600 OC)
STORAGE: 1TB barracuda HDD (used to contain the old OS from my old pc which was a premade pc)
MB: Gigabyte Z390 UD
PSU: 750 watt psu


things I have done since completing build
- updated bios
- updated GPU drivers
- updated windows drivers

The pc seems to be running fine, but when I get into a game it starts stuttering, to be specific micro-struttering. I looked all over reddit and have tried all of their ways that they fixed this, and none of them seems to be working for me. I am honestly losing hope to fix this since its been three days that I have been trying to fix it. I have reinstalled windows numerous times thinking maybe the windows updater made a mistake, I have uninstalled and reinstalled GPU drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled games to no avail. I think maybe it could be the hardware but I've been to numerous PC sites where I stated my pc specs and gotten opinions from many that the build was going to work together properly.

-the PSU is Rosewill 750 M
-I have done a clean windows install using the windows installer to completely clean the HDD
- I started running fortnite where I found the microstutters, i installed 2 other games (RB6 and GTA5) and had microstutters in them too.

That model of PSU was first released eight years ago, how old is your PSU.

Have you made sure that all modular cables are securely connected to the PSU and your computers hardware.

You have clean installed Windows but I also asked if you had also re installed the drivers for the MB.

Couple of other questions for you;

Did this problem only start when you upgraded the CPU, MB and RAM.

Microstutters can also be a sign of a problem with the monitor, what is the brand and model name or number of your display.

For testing purposes, have you tried removing the add on video card from the MBs PCI-E slot and using the video port on the MB instead.

Can I ask that you do not quote every reply, it really does not help any and just makes for unnecessary reading, thanks.

I bought the psu about a year and a half ago, regarding the drivers for the motherboard I updated all of them and still had the problem.

this micro stuttering problem started when I upgraded the cpu motherboard and ram. For the monitor I have two one being a 60hz LG monitor and one being a 144hz monitor both of which i tried switching too but no changes were seen.

I haven't tried to use the integrated graphics in the cpu, do i just disconnect the video card and plug the hdmi to the. motherboard or do i have to enable something in the bios?.

The PSU is not the best of brands but being only eighteen months old it should be fine + the fact that this only started after the upgrades points suspicions in that direction.

Can I ask what you mean by updating drivers, reason I ask is because after clean installing Windows you must then install the drivers for the MB and starting with the chipset drivers first, these drivers must either be installed from the disk that shipped with the MB or be downloaded from the MB manufacturer and then manually installed, Microsoft does not provide chipset drivers for MBs and you should never let Windows install hardware updates as they tend to go wrong and cause folk issues.

While testing I would use just the one monitor, please use the one that has the appropriate video port on your MB.

You need to physically remove the add on video card from the MB or you will not get a signal from the MBs video port.

No worries about the delay between replies, we are both in different time zones so I will be working while you will be sleeping (y)

hey phill, I did what you said about trying to use the motherboard, it was the gpu that was broken, i never thought it was because it would still load up the screen like nothing ever happened to it. Anyways I got a new GPU and now its running smooth and everything is working perfect. Thanks for the assistance phill! :)

Sorry to hear that your GPU was the cause but thank you for letting us know that replacing it has resolved the issue for you (y)

NB: Regarding the original GTX 1060, I would recommend that if you are able to, ask a friend or family member that has an appropriately powered computer if they would test the card in their computer, alternatively ask a local tech/tech store what it would cost to test the card for you, reason I suggest this is because the card could be fine but just not play nicely with your new hardware, if the card checks out ok you could either keep it as a spare or sell it on to recoup some of the cash that you paid for the new GPU.
