square box in e-mails

Having a problem that numerous e-mails come with a little box with a green hill, blue sky, single cloud and the box has a turned corner on it. Tried to click on it to get rid of it or at least find out what it's all about-and nothing happens. I am using comcast internet and google chrome browser. How can I get rid of this happening?

tried everything to post a screen show but it won't allow me to. It does appear to be a figure to denote an ad because in some cases when I click on it an ad comes up. BUT most time I click on it and absolutely nothing happens.

so you are checking your emails from a browser?

sounds like you have a modified HOSTS file, a firewall, an adblocker or some other sort of extension that is blocking those ads, by design I'd say.
start your browser in Safe Mode (extensions are not running in that mode) and see if it repeats.

Sorry about that was suppose to be a screen shot.

While on the screen press the PrtSc button then in the text area
Right Click and press Paste
OR
Click in the box and press Ctrl+v

Have you tried a different browser and did it make a difference.

I tried the directions for print screen ( both of them ) and come up with a box of numerous selections but NO " paste " in the box. Using google but tried firefox and same results. I am truly stumped.

try taking a shot with a camera and uploading that.

did you already have Firefox installed or you got it just for this testing of the issue?

if it's some program blocking something, it may not be browser based but PC based, like a modified HOSTS file, firewall or your AV software.

To capture and post a screenshot;

Click on the ALT key + PRT SCR key..its on the top row..right hand side..now click on start...all programs...accessories...paint....left click in the white area ...press CTRL + V...click on file...click on save...save it to your desktop...name it something related to the screen your capturing... BE SURE TO SAVE IT AS A .JPG ...otherwise it may be to big to upload... after typing in any response you have... click on Upload a File to add the screenshot.

Ok that is usually caused by the browser and or a browser add on that is blocking images that have links attached (adds) to them to protect you.

It does not always work correctly some times blocks images.

Did you ever see if the same thing happened using another browser?
The answer was kind of unclear it the images were showing in Firefox or not.

What was the results running with out add ons?

Lets try this in Chrome

To know if you’ve accidentally blocked images in Chrome,
Click on the three dotted button top right
Then choose Settings from the drop-down menu
Now go to Advanced
Then select Content Settings to open a new section.
If the option that says Do not show any images is not selected
Please do so then activate Show all images
Click on Finish then load this webpage to see if images are now active again.

did as you said, and then closed browser and opened it up again. Went to my e-mail and nothing has changed. Yes, I tried it in Firefox and have the same results. I am beginning to believe this is just some "quirk" in the system and i'll have to live with it.

I just did some searching thru e-mails and came up with the results. It seems that most of them when clicked on will bring up advertisement and a lesser amount will not do anything. It seems to me that there must be a setting somewhere that is dictating it to not show the images. But why would it only show some, click to get some and then some will do nothing? Seems awfully inconsistent. I am at a complete loss in this and like i've said before " maybe i'll just have to live with this problem"
