Sony Vaio VGN-FW51ZF doesn't boot to Windows

Hi,
I have a booting problem with my Sony Vaio VGN-FW51ZF.
At first, when i pressed power button, it started booting to WIN7 and then immediately died. I tried to troubleshoot power cable (OK) and battery (dead). I haven't bought new battery yet, i wanted to troubleshoot some more, because i am not sure it is a battery issue.
Next i tried resetting BIOS (removed CMOS battery for an hour, then plugged it in) with the same result in the end, still cannot boot.
I figured out, that i could browse the BIOS how long i want, notebook would not die, but when i exit BIOS and it started to boot, it crushed again.
Lastly, i tried to reinstall WIN, but it made things even worse. When i put installing DVD in and powered notebook on, all i can see is VAIO logo on the starting screen and then it crushes. I can not even access the BIOS now.
Could it really be the battery issue or is it something else?

Hello Sprtidrt,

If it were the main battery you would be able to simply remove it and power the notebook using just the AC adaptor, have you tried this?

Do you hear the CPU fan spinning or see any of the notebooks LEDs light up when you press the power on button.

Software such as Windows can crash and when it does crash you get a BSOD and when enabled a crash dmp is generated.

Hardware failure such as a weak power supply and/or overheating are not software related and when a computer freezes, suddenly turns off or the screen goes jumbled the behaviour should be described as the "computer shut down unexpectedly" etc and not as having crashed as the latter implies a software issue as opposed to an obvious hardware issue when described properly.

Having the correct info means that helpers will not be looking for a software issue when the problem is clearly hardware related.

Thanks for reply and sorry for misinformation.

Yes, i removed the battery and i have it powered on only by AC adaptor.
I will try to describe the issue better then. I am able to turn on the notebook, i can see starting logo on the screen, i am able to access BIOS again. The problem occurs when booting continues to the state, where i should see Windows logo. Just before that, notebook shuts down. Like black screen, no LEDs flashing, no CPU activity. I get no blue screen with error, it is just suddenly dead.
Is it more comprehensible like that?

No problem and your update does appear to make things clearer as to what is going on, your explanation above suggests that the notebook is overheating and being shutdown to protect the CPU from frying.

Couple of things that may help confirm that the notebook is overheating;

Can you at any time hear the internal cooling fan spinning.

What now happens if you leave the notebook in the BIOS for a prolonged period of time.
