Please excuse my nievity, but I am look for a basic program that will allow me to create basic wiring diagrams. A very rough idea of what i am looking to do is shown in my sketch attached.
Its a mixture ot text and shapes, shapes that need to be divided into sections etc. Im not very experienced with these sort of programes so the more basic the better.
Any advice would be very much appreciated

if you want to get really basic and utilise software already on your PC, then Paint or Word spring to mind.
I used Word once when 'drawing' a floor plan when building a new house.
Just a whole bunch of squares, quarter circles, rectangles etc.
Not as painful has you'd think, but, yes, very hands-on. And Word can insert a whole bunch of icons and symbols.

as to software specifically written to cater for such a task, no idea, Google will be your friend there.

Here is a free online one that does basic electrical schematics

Dia is a great free flowchart app and also has symbols you can download to make electrical schematics

Have used Dia to make electrical diagrams and it is great. There are more of these apps so make Mr Google do your searching.
