Hi all,
Hoping to get help here. New build around a month old.
Problem-
Anything and everything web based is slow to load. When I am looking at my email its almost as if I am on dial up.

P/C specs-

AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz

ASUS AM4 TUF Gaming X570-Plus

Samsung 980 PRO 1TB NVMe SSD

CORSAIR Vengeance RGB Pro (AMD Ryzen Ready) 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 3600

CORSAIR - RMx Series 1000W gold power supply

I am using my older Asus 1060 gpu until I can obtain something better(RTX 3080!)

200mb speed internet. Have done the speed test and gotten 215mb/s but I dont think this is the problem.

Temps are not an issue, when web browsing I am around 30c. Well ventilated case with several fans.

Now with thus build I should imagine anything I click on web related should be an almost instantaneous load. But it sometimes take up to 10 seconds for it to finish loading.
On the other hand, this is my first AMD build and am not familiar with it. I went into the bios and got the "XMP" whatever AMD's version is called working but that doesn't seem to help either.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Also was wondering, when I go to Task manager, I see that my Ram usage is around 30%. That seems kind of high to me. I can close some apps that I really don't need but that really only takes it down to 25%. Is this common or do I have something else running in the background slowing everything down? And if so, how do I find it and make it go away?

Lets see if a MTB log flags up anything;

Download MiniToolBox and save the file to the Desktop.

Close the browser and run the tool, check the following options;

Flush DNS
Report IE Proxy Settings
Reset IE Proxy Settings
Report FF Proxy Settings
Reset FF Proxy Settings
List last 10 Event Viewer Errors
List Installed Programs
List Devices (Only Problems)
List Users, Partitions and Memory size

Click on Go.

COPY and PASTE the information form the MTB.txt file.

Have you also tried rebooting the modem and router?

Wired and or Wireless?

Are any other devices having this issue?

Just upgraded to the 200mbs internet(new modem) and my router was unplugged for a few days so short answer, yes restarted. Lol

Wired and my PC is the only thing connected directly to the router. )Well, I take that back, my TV and audio receiver are also connected. I use my TV as my monitor. Sorry, dont know if that is relevant or not.
Everything else is wireless. I could try and boot up my laptop and see how it behaves.

Disk drive showing no error so that is good.

I could try and boot up my laptop and see how it behaves.
Would give us a reference to see if it is just the desktop and or the modem with any cable connected device.

Try a different cable.
Try a different port on the modem

Have you tried resetting the network settings using commands and or through Windows?

Option 1
Open an Admin Command Prompt and type each command then press Enter for each one.

ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
nbtstat -R
nbtstat -RR
netsh int reset all
netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
netsh int ipv6 reset
netsh int ipv4 reset
netsh winsock reset catalog

Now reboot the system

Option 2
Open Settings
Select Network & Internet
Scroll down on the left and select Network Reset
Follow the on screen prompts (instructions).

test it see how it work let us know.

Sorry. For some reason the last email went to my spam folder. Fixed that.

I tried my laptop out and it does seem quite a bit faster on load times. And its an older laptop.

Tried all of the network reset options, found a new cable and put it into a different port.

While it does seem faster, some emails do take some time to load still.

And I am not entirely sure it is an email thing only due to the fact that some websites themselves take a while to even start loading.

I can click on a shortcut in an email or even on the desktop and its like the PC is thinking what or where it needs to go and THEN goes there.

To me it seems like there is an internal communication issue with the hardware.

Thank you guys for all you do!

Lets try running a DISM and System File Checker

Is the second link basically a facsimile of the first? This stuff is above my knowledge base but they both give instructions on the file cleaner.
Is there a difference between the two?

Anyways, I did both checks in the first link and there were corrupted files that it fixed. Everything does seem to working better now.

But at what point do I say its good enough? I really dont know how well this build should be working(Should it better/faster than it is) I guess my question is- Is there some sort of website or app I can download that can tell me how well the PC is operating in general? Like how well the separate components are operating and talking to one another? And if it is a software issue the same thing? I know there are programs that do that for the GPU alone, but just wondering if there is something else out there.

Thank you,
Jerry

What one person consider good enough may not be what another person considers good enough.

With out know start time and end time for what hard to say.
Now with thus build I should imagine anything I click on web related should be an almost instantaneous load.
What are pare load times now?

Things that can slow loads
Security Software
Internet Connection speeds up and down
Wired or wireless
Traffic on that site
Others accessing the network
Misconfigured network
Things running in the background.

I have never used any that I have liked lets see what @Bruce @phillpower2 have to say.

reading through the thread i was thinking background processes and services to blame first.
and AV software if you are using any.

restart the rig in Safe Mode (with Networking) and see how things change.
you could also try creating another logon user and sign in using that account profile.
also make sure you have no extensions in Chrome, and perhaps try Firefox just for kicks.

as to speed, your PC speed with those specs during bootup should be under 20 seconds, that is, from the time you press the power button to the time you start Word (disregarding any time taken to enter a logon password) and can start typing should be around 20 seconds. and starting up Word, Excel etc should be like 2 seconds.
if so, your PC is running well.

internet speed may largely be out of your hands. what speed does speedtest.net show you?
and log on to the modem and find the Line Attenuation DB and the Noise Margin DB (aka Signal to Noise Ratio).
noise should be low, less than 10dB is good and attenuation should also be low with anything above 50db considered poor.

even though you are paying for a 200MBps plan, you probably aren't getting anywhere near that in real life.
do you know your distance from the node, exchange, DSLAM box at all?
how is broadband delivered to your house; copper, fibre, coax cable, wireless?

How would I find how far I am from the node? I have no clue. Pc is directly connected to the cable router which is supplied by coaxial cable.
Would it make any difference of the amount of background processes? Task manager says 94 background and 95 Windows processes. That seems like quite a bit.

As for bootup speed, you mean from the time the password(disabled but started timing from there) was about 37 seconds till all of the programs got done loading. By that I mean all of the running programs with Icons down by the clock.

Speedtest is as follows, copied off of Ookla:
PING ms
10
DOWNLOAD Mbps
235.79
UPLOAD Mbps
11.53

Tried the booting in safe mode (Lol, had to look that one up) Love windows 10. Didnt really see any difference there.

While the internet speed seems to be doing better since I have done all the previous steps its still acts slow when transitioning to one thing from the next. Like it has to think about what its going to do and then does it. Its not all the time though., intermittent. Could it be possible one of the pieces of hardware are not seated properly? Would that be a cause?

I have 83 and 91 background processes respectively so your is in the ball park.

as to knowing your distance to the node, you won't unless you have ever ask the service provider tech when he installed the service and was ever there for fault repairs.

with boot times, from the moment i hit the power switch and not counting the time it takes to enter my login password till the time I start Word and it starts displaying what I am typing is typically under 20 seconds.

your 235Mbps download speed is awesome, but then you'd expect no less with cable DSL.
i get about 40 at home and about 35 at work.

have you tried uninstalling AVAST, rebooting and seeing if that helps.
from what you are saying, the PC runs fine and only the internet is slow and then only sometimes.
is it only certain sites?
do you have any extra security processes, like web extensions or a modified HOST file?

have you tried uninstalling AVAST, rebooting and seeing if that helps.

It may help if answered the above, being that you are running Windows 10 you already have more than adequate AV and Firewall protection.

Avast has become the same type of resource hog that AVG was years ago and the once highly recommended AV is no longer recommended by anyone other than Avast, it installs all sorts of unwanted extras on folk that amongst other things stuffs up the internet connection, it can also be a pain to get rid of as well.
