The PSU is top in the order of failure rates followed by the GPU, RAM, MB and then the CPU, a PSU can also fail for no apparent reason whereas the other items of hardware most often fail because of human intervention such as OCing etc.

PSUs only tend to have the two connections to the MB, a 4 or 8 pin ATX power connector for the CPU and a 20 or 24 pin mainboard ATX power connector, any other cables from the PSU normally go direct to the hardware such as the storage devices or add on video card etc.

Did this just happen or had you been tinkering or had you had any warning signs at all.

Going offline shortly as I have an early start but will check back tomorrow some time.

As a PSU puts out various voltages +3.3V, +5V and +12V it may appear that the PSU is working correctly but it is not, any significant drop of any output can prevent the system from booting up, the other scenario is a significant increase in the output which can be worse as it can fry one or more major components such as the MB, CPU, RAM, add on video card etc.

Because the PC just went off and now powers up and down when you attempt to start the computer suggests that either the PSU is bad or something has shorted out, the fact that you get nothing on screen at all does not bode well I`m afraid.

Any replacement PSU must have an equal or above power output of the original PSU, this is particularly important when there is an add on video card present as they dictate what the minimum output of the PSU needs to be, your computer would not of had a 500W PSU fitted as stock if it were not required.

I personally would not purchase anything until you have done one of the following, tried a known good 500W PSU or had a local tech take a look at the computer, check what they may charge first.

Depending on what video card is in the Shuttle 250W may not be enough to power up the system as any add on GPU without a supplemental power dongle still requires the system be powered by a PSU of a certain wattage.

It would be wise to remove any add on video card and use the onboard video port while you are troubleshooting this.

The four pin speaker normally connects to the front panel header alongside the case power button, reset button and HDD activity LED etc, it is very hard to see anything in that set up picture but I am not seeing such a front panel header on that board I`m afraid :(

Can`t say as we don`t know if you have a I7-3770K!

Sorry that your update was not better news but thank you for concluding your thread, not getting anything using that info but fwiw the speaker header normally looks like the one in the attachment.
