Screens turn black

Not open for further replies.
Hello again,

I didn't realise I had replies on my previous post as I have been away and unable to communicate, so my thread was closed.
I apologise for that.
My issue still persists and here it is the original post:
https://pchelpforum.net/t/screens-turn-black.30967/#post-61106
I have tried 3 times in safe mode without any issues but I haven't used the computer during this, (Just left it running and restarted as normal).
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

with that mobo not having a dedicated graphics card, you can't remove your add-on card to try that theory.
any chance you can get your hands on another card to replace yours to see if the problem is simply a faulty graphics card?

It's not really an option for me unfortunately. Would there be another way to test the graphics card? Would it be because I have dual monitors? Is there any chance it's the power supply? I beleive i have sufficient power supply though. It's a really difficult thing to test when it's not consistent and doesn't leave many clues.
Thanks for your reply,

the times you have used Safe Mode successfully would suggest it's not PSU related.
my money is on the hardware itself or the software it uses.
have you tried removing the install drivers for the card and downloading the latest from the manufacturers web site?

I will give that a go. Could this have anything to do with DirectX? I have had an issue with that last year (installing an older version to comply with my programs but has automatically downloaded the latest version again)

DirectX? - unlikely as that doesn't control the normal running of Windows, it's mainly used in gaming.
so you should be able to start the PC, run Office apps, browse, print etc without DirectX ever coming into the picture.

Ok no worries. I use CAD programs and when I had lag issue they suggested downgrading to direct 9 which seemed to work but since it has re-downloaded the latest version. I didn't understand why an earlier version would run better anyway so i have left it this time.

What is the brand and model name or number of the PSU.

Are the specs below from your previous thread the same specs as what you are using now?

Any update for us Dbraico?
Hello.
I haven't had any luck with this. I'm possibly too computer illiterate to find a solution. Sorry i see your earlier response, those specs are correct. What and where exactly do i find the PSU name and number?

The only solution I have found is literally keeping track of when I'm turning my computer on and off. I'll usually just restart it instead of turning off and them turn it off as I mentioned in the previous thread it's every second time. This is really confusing.
