Screen Crashes Black and Unresponsive forcing restart

I have been having this issue for over a year now, and have been living through it trying to be patient as long as I can until now. My computer monitor will randomly flicker and then crash, and if I'm listening to something when it happens I just hear a buzzing noise in my headphones. The PC stays on but I can't do anything and I am forced to restart. It can happen after hours of use or just a few minutes, and its hard to pinpoint when it happens because it seems to occur randomly. It frequently happens when I try to install a large update or program, or if I'm just watching a youtube video or stream.

Here are my specs:
CPU:Intel Core i5-4460
Motherboard: ASRock H97M Pro4
GPU: AMD Radeon R9 390
RAM: 8GBs Dual DDR3
Hard Drive: WD Black 1TB Performance
Power Supply: EVGA 650 GS SuperNova

I've been dealing with this issue for a long time now, shortly after I built the PC. I have no idea what the issue is, as it seems to be very stable when I'm playing graphically intensive games such as Overwatch, and never crashes but In other less intensive games it crashes. Along with that I often come back to my PC after a hour of keeping it a updating a program to find the screen black and unresponsive.

If you have any advice of what I should try let me know. I've read around trying to find similar issues but can't seem to figure it out. I have a feeling its a hardware issue. Thanks.

Hi Jcsmurf. Welcome to PCHF.
What OS?
All your drivers up to date?
Windows updates?
Under "Power Options" set to "High Performance"
Monitor sleep. Set to"Never" Pc sleeps. Set to "Never"
What Temp monitor have you?
Try those and see if any difference.
Post temps under load.

MY OS is Windows 10 Home, and for the most part I think that my drivers are up to date. How would I check? I tried the power options and those did nothing. My temperatures never get abnormal, peakingg at 68 C or so in intensive games. My monitor is the BenQ GL2460HM 24-Inch. Thanks for the advice, but none of it seemed to do anything :/
