SAMSUNG 970 PRO OR 980 PRO?

I'm working on a gaming PC build and I'm new to this and this forum has been helpful. I'm looking at what SSD to buy and I've been looking at the Samsung 970 Pro 1TB and the 980 Pro 1TB. My motherboard is a Gigabyte B360 HD3 and it only has Gen3 M.2 Slots and I just saw this note on an article about the differences between the 970 Pro vs the 980 Pro "The maximum sequential read/write speed offered by 980 Pro can be achieved only on an M.2 PCIe 4.0×4 slot. If you use this SSD on a PCIe 3.0×4 M.2 slot, the speed will be bottlenecked as per the PCIe 3.0×4 specifications." So Basically my questions is since my Motherboard only has Gen3 slots should I just go with the cheaper 970 Pro because I wouldn't benefit from the speed of the 980 Pro? Thanks!

Samsung makes some of the best drives out on the market.

the biggest issue is which M.2 can your system handle you will need to refer to the manual and or site for that information.

Probably need to update the BIOS as well to the F4 to support M.2 combability

The article is correct, the 980 Pro is PCIe 4.0, and the 970 line is PCIe 3.0.

If you want a bang up 970 drive, I quite like the 970 Evo Plus, it's one of the more popular drives, but the 980 Pro could be a good choice if you plan on upgrading to a PCIe 4.0 motherboard in the foreseeable future.
