Random Pc freezes during gameplay

Status
Not open for further replies.
I built my pc less than two weeks ago, and stated getting still frames usually after 10-20 mins of play. they also can happen seemingly randomly. these freezes occur on both low and high graphical games. the music will not be effected by this.
I have tested on task manager but the usage for all my components stay below 30% at most times, and also on Zenger master (my PC is not overclocked)showing an EDC % exceeding the limit (140)
I have changed my power plan numerous times but it has no effect.

hope you can help

my pc
rtx 2070
AMD Ryzen™ 7 2700X Processor
Aorus x470
kingston ssd 480gb
1tb Harddrive, Barracuda
Benq Rl series XL2411

being so new, I thinking along the lines of hardware compatibility.
check vendors lists and see if they all like playing nicely with each other.
then check everything for driver updates; graphics card, BIOS firmware, mobo drivers.

do you only get issues during games - normal usage is unaffected?
and is it usually only around 10-20mins in?

yes if i am not playing a game, the freezes dont occur. sometimes, the freezes are random, but only rarely
I have done driver updates but nothing seems to help it.

OK, let's assume it's graphics card related then.
when it freezes, have you checked the temp of the graphics card?
obviously you can't whilst it's frozen, so reboot and run something like Speccy (although is is reporting some graphics cards and mobo temps incorrectly) and hopefully the cards temp would not have fallen too much.
if Speccy can't be trusted, use any one of the many hardware monitors available.

does that mobo have integrated graphics?
if so, remove the extra graphics card, lower the game's settings as much as possible and see if the game plays (badly) and at least doesn't freeze.

Your average temp for the cpu is 88c,which is a little warm. Have you checked your cpu fan to see if it is running? I am assuming you have thermal paste on that cpu?

the temperature of the graphics card dosnt change during the freezes. i will try on low settings

What is the brand and model name or number of the PSU.

Download Speedfan and install it. Once it's installed, run the program and post here the information it shows. The information I want you to post is the stuff that is circled in the example picture I have attached.
If you are running on a vista machine, please go to where you installed the program and run the program as administrator.

(this is a screenshot from a vista machine)

So that we have a comparison to Speedfan, download, run and grab a screenshot of HWMonitor (free).

To capture and post a screenshot;

Click on the ALT key + PRT SCR key..its on the top row..right hand side..now click on start...all programs...accessories...paint....left click in the white area ...press CTRL + V...click on file...click on save...save it to your desktop...name it something related to the screen your capturing... BE SURE TO SAVE IT AS A .JPG ...otherwise it may be to big to upload... after typing in any response you have... click on Upload a File to add the screenshot.

Screenshot instructions are provided to assist those that may read this topic but are not yet aware of the “how to”.
