Solved Random crashes, tried everything I could think off

Hey,
I have had issues with my laptop crashing. Firstly, I was sure it was high temps. (I was at 95°C !!!) I have reapplied thermal paste and cleaned it up. Seemed to fix the problem for a while. Now, the crashes have started again at random points and intervals, in game or just in the menu. It does not seem to happen outside of gaming. Temps right now stay at steady 69-71°C max when gaming (checked via SpeedFan). Also, when any sound is playing when the freeze happens, it repeats it, making it into a buzzing noise if that is any help. Only thing that shuts it is a power cut via holding the power button for a few seconds.

Things I tried:
Reinstalling graphics drivers
Updating graphics drivers
Got lowest settings on everything
Checked I don't have anything running in the background
Have played the game before and ran just fine for days on end (HoTs)

I really would not want to do a factory reset, so is there something else you would recommend ?

Hello Starsalign,

Speedfan is rather basic and notebooks do not tend to have many temperature sensors on the MB so it is entirely possible that something is actually overheating, if there is a dedicated GPU present that would do it.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Nothing wrong there hardware wise but you are over 6 months behind with Windows updates and you only having single channel RAM will make gaming difficult.

Try updating to version 20H2 of Windows 10 and check to see if the notebook RAM can be upgraded.
