Ram not running at max speed

I have a 2x4 gb ram kit rated at 1600 mHz, however it is running at 533 mHz. I went into the BIOS and enabled D.O.C.P and set the ram to 1600mHz yet I received no results; the ram stayed at 533 mHz. How can I make my ram run at its rated speed?

Hello Nil_Skrzypczak,

Sounds like the RAM may not be intended to work any faster with your particular MB as in it may be restricted to the serial presence detect speed (SPD).

You may be unable to and whether you can or not depends on compatibility between the CPU, MB and RAM, the CPU and MB may be compatible with the spec of RAM that you have but the brand of RAM that you have may not be appropriate for the MB that you have if that makes sense, you can confirm this if you check the qualified vendors list for the MB, commonly known as the QVL this list will tell you 100% what is compatible with your MB, there will be things that are compatible but are missing from the list as they have not been tested and approved by the maker of the board.

What we need is the brand and model name or number of the CPU, MB and the RAM so we can check the specs, compatibility and any OCing steps that are required.

You should have DDR3-1866MHz RAM when using an AMD FX-6300

Your present RAM is not on the MBs QVL which you can download from here to confirm.

Do you have a link to your actual RAM, all info that I am getting says that 1066MHz is the max tested and SPD speed, check the G Skill configuration info here
