Solved RAM not performing at correct speed

Hello. I am having a problem so I just upgraded my RAM to this: ram which clocks at 3600 MHZ. I have this: motherboard which can OC to 4000 MHZ. Right now the RAM shows up fine and I do understand that when in speccy or cpu-z when it says something like: "32.0GB Dual-Channel Unknown @ 1066MHz (15-15-15-36)" you actually double the MHZ because of dual channel. But this is still much slower than the RAM I purchased. My motherboard says that it can go up to 2667 MHZ without OCing but it is only giving me 2132 MHZ out of the box. Do I have to change the speed in the BIOS/UEFI? Also, how safe is long term OCing? I bought the 3600 MHZ RAM so I could go at 3600 MHZ. To run at that speed I would have to OC.

Hello Adam,

I have an idea as to what might be going on but if you can post a Speccy url for us it may help me to explain it better by using content I can copy/paste here, we know you are aware of Speccy but the below is the canned info I use for asking for the Speccy url.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Ok, here is the speccy URL:

I can post this as a different question, but, I may not have the most up to date drivers (BIOS included). I am kind of scared of updating because it has messed up my computer in the past (different computer than I have now). I also liked using the program driverboost to update them all and that has caused problems as well. How should I update if I choose to? Just off the appropriate website? Is there any programs like driverboost you can recommend that will not mess up my computer?

I am able to answer your question but as per forum rules regarding the legitimacy of a members software, can I ask how you come to have an OS that is intended for places of learning on a personal computer, an OS that is more than a year behind with updates as well.

I am a college student and I got it through my university. I have all the current windows updates, but like I said I have not updated many drivers in a long time.

The OS on your computer is well out of date, we are up to version 1909 now so you are missing the following updated versions of Windows 10, 1809, 1903 and 1909 and unfortunately until we can see an up to date OS forum Terms and Rules prohibit us from helping as we have no way of knowing if your OS is legit or not.

3. Support for, discussion of, or promotion of sites offering cracks, warez, torrents, pornography or any other illegal material or any software created to download any of the above. This includes nulled, copied or any other illegal software or operating systems.

Wow, really? I can't go to college because I am non traditional?

I guess I did not see the 1909 update because it has always said I was up to date and never notified me of it. I just noticed the update underneath the normal updates. - Here is my new speccy url after updating: http://speccy.piriform.com/results/bFbVHzyHBoLLMgqiZACy4aX I can also provide you any other proof you want for the legitimacy of my windows installation.

I know you have to do your due diligence and I can appreciate that. But this is somewhat offensive. I can even give you my university email in a DM if you still don't believe I am a college student.

Also, someone has been attempting to hack into my email now. Is this you? I have done NOTHING wrong!

Your Speccy report shows an up to date OS and that is all that was needed,

I apologise if you feel that me applying forum rules is offensive but needs must and fwiw you asking if I have tried hacking your email account could be deemed equally as offensive but I`m not offended by it, I strongly suggest that if you think that someone has tried to hack into your computer you report it asap, report it here

Entirely your choice but fwiw being that I am on the other side of the world from you I was actually sleeping when you last replied so even with the best will in the world I couldn`t have replied, regardless your question was in answered in my reply #8, there is nothing wrong with your RAM and it won`t register as running at 3600MHz until the XMP facility overclocks it, 2 Xs 1800MHz = 3600MHz even without a calculator ;)

NB: Don`t forget to report the hacking attempt will you.
