Hi,

System:
MB: MSI Z370 PC Pro
CPU: Intel Core i5-8600K @4.7 GHz
GPU: ASUS RTX 3080 TUF Gaming OC
RAM: 32GB
PSU: Sharkoon Silent Storm Coll Zero 850W

I bought a new GPU and PSU over the holidays and as soon as the GPU goes under load (from ca. 80% load) my PSU Fan is getting extremely loud at an uncmftortable level of noise.
I can even hear it with headphones on. The PSU has a Zero RPM Mode. I tested it with that mode on and off. No difference.

With my old RTX 2070 with the new PSU that problem doesn't occur.
And I also tested the 3080 in my old rig, with a XILENCE 630W PSU and I couldn't hear anything suspicous from the PSU in that case.

I'm out of ideas what could cause the issue. My tests didn't reveal the part that is causing it.
I have also seen post in other forums about this issue with this exact GPU and the same or a different PSU.

I hope anyone has an idea what could be the problem.

Hello

How is you case air flow and number of fans?
2 120mm in the front 1 120mm in the back. The air coming out of the PSU is completely cool and GPU under load is at 60° C. CPU cooler is blowing out at the top of the case. CPU in a stress test under 100% at 80°C.

It also goes into jetengine mode as soon as I start a game

This is how it looks like when I'm only in the main menu of a game "Dead by Daylight" on low settings the PSU is silent but when I put the settings on Ultra the PSU hoes crazy even in the main menu. while the GPU isn't even under heavy load.

Ok i read that the gpu can be loud.. It recommended 3 high pressure intake fans and 3 exhaust fans or 4 intake fans and 2 exhaust fans..
I can't hear the GPU at all, it's the fan of the Power Supply Unit. And the GPU has not a thermal problem at all it is quite cool under load.

PSU: Sharkoon Silent Storm Coll Zero 850W

Three things that you will always find when you are dealing with a quality PSU, a clearly explained specifications/information label on the PSU that you can easily find online, the warranty information clearly displayed and the warranty will typically be a minimum of 7 years but the best units will be ten and last but not least, quality reviews from proven experts such as Jonny Guru

The Sharkoon Silent Storm Coll Zero 850W does not meet any of the above criteria so best advice is to return the present PSU and get yourself the PSU that your system deserves and needs Corsair RM850 850W covered by a ten year warranty and less expensive than the Sharkoon from the same merchant.

That's probably what I'm going to do. I wanted to buy that in the first place, but it is currently out of stock everywhere.
