I have a Playstation 3 160GB hdd that i want to format to use in my older laptop for vehicle diagnostics. However my desktop doesnt recognise the hdd, not even in disk management. The hdd was working in the PS3 so im assuming its healthy. Can it be reformatted for use in my laptop ?

Thanks for the response, when I plug the drive into my desktop via a usb port/adapter , its not recgonised by disk management within Windows, so I cant wipe it......

I used diskpart to do the same thing.
Open powershell/cmd prompt with admin & enter:
diskpart
list disk
select disk X (where X is the number of the PS3 HD)
Clean
exit
exit

Then go to disk management & format the Drive.
