ps2 splitter cable

there are several reason inc hardware preferences
but the main reason is that i use a KVM
and i've found when switching the latency is lot better using ps2
esp switching from a windows 10 machine to a windows 7 machine
ie theres lag of between 5 / 10 secs before the mouse is found on the
win7 machine . . .perhaps theres a fix for this?

if it is switched from w10 rapidly to w7 then back to w10 there is no latency
if it is switched from w7 rapidly to w10 then back to w7 there is about 13 sec lag before the mouse and keyboard
are detected again. . . the longer the pause in swiching the shorter the latency gets . . . the shortest latency is 3secs
the monitor is instantaneous both ways . . .is there dedicated drivers when using kvm perhaps??

also been several years for me since using a KVM switch, or PS/2 connections for that matter.
if your KVM requires PS/2 devices, they now come in USB formats as well.
but yeah, I gave up having more than one physical PC, each with a different OS, when I discovered Virtual Machines, never looked back!

And with a separate monitor for both.
However this does not always work. A VM can't do the same as separate machines or Separate drives
so it seems pin3 and 4 are common ( power to mouse and keyboard )
pins 2 and 6 are for mouse ( data and clock)
pins 1 and 5 are for keyboard ( data and clock )
which makes sense since 2 and 6 are one side of the skt and 1 and 5 are the other

tried a splitter which is wired mouse to green and keyboard to purple
the mouse side of the splitter works with the mouse or the keyboard
but the keyboard side of the splitter works with neither
the splitter is wired correctly ( iv'e buzzed it through ) so it seems
the dual mouse/kbd ps2 port is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE . . why they couldn't just
provide separate mouse and keyboard ps2 ports is a joke for the sake of a 50p ps2 skt

The keyboard and auxiliary device signals are driven by open-collector drivers pulled to 5Vdc through a pull-up resistor.
5v and ov are present on pin 3 and 4 ( common ) on the keyboard and mouse skts
it seems that the spare pins ( 6&2) are not utilised to create the ' one socket implementation '
ie pins 5 & 1 is the normal mouse and keyboard configuration for 2 ports
but using one port . . pins 2 and 6 should be the ' split wiring ' to the keyboard side of the skt
thus utilising 6 pins of the mini din plug . . £ to a penny pins 2 and 6 on the motherboard skt
go nowhere . . .this could be a mis sell issue for motherboard manufacturers that are using a
legacy issue to sell motherboards

Do you have another keyboard to test with?
Note that IBM PC and PC XT keyboards use a different unidirectional protocol with the same DIN connector as AT keyboards, so though a PC or XT keyboard can be connected to PS/2 port using a wiring adapter intended for an AT keyboard, the earlier keyboard will not work with the PS/2 port. (At least, it cannot work with normal PS/2 keyboard driver software, including the system BIOS keyboard driver.)
