Problems installing Windows 10

So I have read and watched a few videos providing a list of tasks to install windows 10 and they all result to an "installation failed" error. I have a windows 8.1 and have even paid for the **** windows and put it on a USB drive with plenty of room. I formatted my computer in hopes to install windows 10 from the USB drive. When it rebooted, after the format, it immediately installed windows 8 again without giving me an option or identifying my USB drive. What did I need to do in order to install from the USB drive?

did you create that USB stick with Windows on it via the Windows Media Creation Tool.
that program will setup the USB stick in the correct way to be able to boot from.

you may need to jump into the BIOS settings and have that stick listed first in the boot order.

during the install process, it should prompt you to remove all current partitions, do that to complete remove all current hard drive data. (obviously you have backed up all your data!)
