Problems after overclokking memory (Screen wnet black and yellow light appeared)

We really have a problem with my son's gaming pc. He wanted to upgrade his PC when he thought there was too little space on the SSD disk and a little too little memory. He has an ASUS ROG STRIX B450-f Gaming 2 Motherboard. He bought 2 Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO SL DDR4 3200Mh in one kit and a Kingston NV1 NVMe M.2 SSD 2TB. We took out the old one and installed the new one and started windows 10 installation. Everything went great, it started up in windos and looked great with 2 new RAM sticks and a new SSD 2TB. But then my son wanted to clock up the memory to 3200Mh, we went into the BIOS and found the setting and clocked it up to 3200Mh and started again. After that, the screen has been completely black. A Yellow light has also appeared next to the memory chips (To the left of socket A1). We have tried to remove the CMOS battery, reset CLRTC with jumper. take out memory sticks, insert one and place it in all four ports. None of what we have tried has changed anything. There are lights in memory chips and video cards when we start it, fans also start and everything except the yellow light and the black screens work just fine.

We took out the CMOS battery yesterday afternoon / evening (Norwegian time), then we put the jumper on the CLRTC pins and memory chip in slot A2 (Only one RAM and of the new one we bought). So we tried again right now (The day after). The PC has been on for a while now, but nothing happens to the screen it is still black. There are light shining on the memory chips and video card as if everything was fine, but still a yellow light to the left of the memory chip that I think indicates a fault in the RAM.

I and not least my son really appreciate the help in this issue.

Have you tried putting everything back to the way it was before any new parts got swapped in.

But then my son wanted to clock up the memory to 3200Mh, we went into the BIOS and found the setting and clocked it up to 3200Mh and started again. After that, the screen has been completely black.

What exactly do you mean by the above.

Can you post the brand and model name or number for the following;

The CPU.

The original RAM.

Any add on video card.

The power supply (PSU).

Yes we tryed to set everything like it was before.
I've just corrected the Motherboard type:
Correction: The Motherboard are ASUS ROG STRIX B450 E Gaming.

CPU: Ryzen 7 2700 X MPK
RAM: Corsair vengeance rgb pro 2 x 8 GB 2666Mhz
Video card:ASUS Geforce RTX 2070 DUAL evo
Power supply: Corsair VS650 PSU 650 W/std/w

What exactly do you mean by the above.

You missed answering the above for us, do you mean that he enabled XMP or DOCP to auto overclock the RAM.

CPU: Ryzen 7 2700 X

The RAM is not going to work with that CPU once XMP has been enabled, the AMD specs here state that 2933MHz is the fastest RAM that the CPU can handle.

In addition to the above;

Video card:ASUS Geforce RTX 2070 DUAL evo
Power supply: Corsair VS650 PSU 650 W/std/w

That PSU should not be used anywhere near an add on video card, VS = Value Series and are intended only for PCs that have integrated graphics, you will find it on either Tier D • Recommended only for very cheap, iGPU systems or if the orange label model Tier E • Potentially dangerous in multiple scenarios

Sorry about that, i am new to this forum :)
I dont know if it where XMP or DOCP. The configuration in BIOS was a dumb thing to do. I think we went to advanced settings /Memory Frequence and we set the value to 3200 Mhz
 
XMP and DOCP are auto settings and you would not need to manually set anything, what you have post suggests that neither XMP or DOCP were used.

The following checks require the computer case to be opened so take the following safety precautions 1st, disconnect the power cord from the wall socket, press the case power button for twenty seconds or so to get rid of any residual charge in the system, take anti static precautions before touching anything inside, you can do this by touching a bare metal part of the case or PSU or if a notebook by touching a household radiator or associated copper feed pipe.


Remove the CMOS battery, press the case power button for another 20 or so seconds.

Remove the RAM and leave out for 10/15 minutes.

Put the original RAM and CMOS battery back in.

Put the side of the case back on.

Connect the power cord, screen to the GPU and the keyboard.

Press the case power on button and hope.

Only do the above and then post back with an update for us.

Hi, We just did exactly what you wrote in that order but got the same result as last time (Black screen and yellow light)

This has nothing to do with the settings being changed in the BIOS then as restoring the MBs factory settings by removing the CMOS battery etc would have set the RAM back to 2133MHz.

Nothing more we can do here I`m afraid so suggest that you get a local tech to take a look.
