problem after partitioning drive

thanks again for your continued interest
after much difficulty I managed to install Win98 only to fail at the last hurdle: connecting to the internet!
No matter what I did with trying to change the virtual machine's 'network' or 'shared folders' etc. I kept getting 'this program has performed an illegal operation' when I clicked on 'internet explorer'!
I need to get on the internet to download the driver for my scanner.
Any ideas??

Was unable to suggest anything else for omar Veeg and mentioned as such in reply #22, I did ask for a link to from where the Windows 98 ISO was obtained as that may be the crux of the problem.

thanks--no further progress--I'm stuck at being unable to connect to the internet
My pc is on windows 10 and is connected by cable to broadband internet
the iso i got from ebay had a product key so i successfully managed to install Win 98
the problem is how to configure network connection--- i used NAT process
i am a pc novice!
