Solved Printer/Scanner & Firefox will not work

Status
Not open for further replies.
Hi

I went to use my scanner the other day and all of a sudden its not responding, get an error message saying its not connected, so I tried to reinstall the drivers but it said the drivers cannot be installed on this PC. I have tested the printer and it works fine with my laptop. I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the drivers but I keep getting the same error message.

Also, and this could be part of the same problem, I cannot access the internet using Firefox or Internet Explorer, Chrome works fine and my emails are ok with Thunderbird.

I am using Windows 7 64bit on this machine.

Any ideas or solutions would be great thanks

Derek.

Where are you installing the drivers from, a CD or downloaded file you already had on your pc?
If so sounds like it is an old file and your Windows version has moved on, say from 32bit XP to 64bit Win10 - that sort of thing.

Get the latest driver for your Windows from the printer manufacturers web site.

Thanks for your replies.

I have tried a different USB port with no success and I have tried downloading the latest Epson drivers from thier site getting an error "it is not possible to install the software on this PC", I have plenty of space so I don't know what the answer is.

Hi sorry about the delay, I can now access the internet using firefox, I uninstalled it and reinstalled it now its fine but I still cant print/scan. The model of the printer is Epson Stylus SX115, which works fine with my laptop.

Cheers

Derek

Is this the driver you have attempted to install?

Hi

I tried to post an update for this problem but it has been closed for any replies.

Now I have had the time to check the fault properly, I found that after installing an update for Firefox, it is working fine now.

As for the printer, we had some major electrical work done recently and the electrician had to check all our sockets etc, he must have pulled on the USB cable which got disconnected from the hub (the printer was the only thing connected) so it wasn't getting its signal from the PC and the PC thought there was no printer connected, also I was trying to install the wrong drivers for the printer (windows 7 32bit) our PC is running Windows 7 64bit.

After reconnecting the USB and installing the correct drivers it is working fine now.

Cheers

Derek
