First my pc is Lenovo gaming
I5 quad core
12 gb ram
1gb nvidia graphics
What I want to know is what power supply should I use when installing an Nvidia 740 GT ddr3 128 bit video card

What power supply does your current system have? You would need at minimum a 400 watt power supply but it depends on what power supply you have in your system that will determine if you need to swap it out with a better unit.

ok mine is 320 watt. you said 400 minimum but how many for the absolute maximum use of my graphics card

400W with a minimum of 20 amps on the +12V rail, the cost of an appropriate 400W PSU means that they are not a good financial option and you would be better to go for a 500W unit, examples of both here and here

You must confirm for yourself if an ATX type power supply will fit in your computer, we cannot say that one will as we do not know what type of case you have.
