just built a computer, switching to CAPS for easier reading, i am not yelling

MSI B450+ MOTHERBOARD
AMD RYZEN5 1600 CPU
AMD RX VEGA56 GPU
SSD PNY 500 GIG HARDDRIVE
32 GIGS CORSAIR VENGENCE DDR4 RAM

650 WATT GOLD POWER SUPPLY

I STARTED WITH LINUX UBUNTU 18.04 , WILL WORK FINE FOR ABAOUT 1/2 HOUR, THEN LOCKS UP. AFTER A FEW RESTARTS IT WILL FAIL EVEN SOONER

TRY TO DOWNLOAD WINDOWS 10 BUT IT SEEMS TO GET A WAYS THRU THE DOWNLOAD AND THEN JUST HAS THE BLUE SCREEN, BLANK AND LOCKED UP.

ANYONE HAD THIS PROBLEM,, ANY THOUGHTS? HAVE NOT BUILT THAT MANY COMPUTERS BUT THE 2 I HAVE BUILT WENT BETTER THAN THIS.

my first thought is a hardware compatibility issue.
I know it sounds obvious but have you double checked all the parts against each other.
I haven't played with AMD in ages plus have no experience with the new Ryzen's - I've stuck with Intel.

in the past when I've got very new (as in modern architecture) mobo's, there can be CPU and RAM considerations with compatibility.

check there isn't already a BIOS update for that mobo.

another quick check is overheating.
does the CPU heatsink have thermal paste and is it seated properly and paired with an adequate fan and case ventilation.

thank you for your input, Bruce. the CPU/RAM issue was my first thought and although my ram wasn't on the QVL, i changed the bios A-XMP to "on" and the problem seemed to "partially" go away. it took a whole day before the computer crashed this time. ubuntu loaded up and works fine for much longer but sadly, windows is still not happy and i get a "security kernel check failure" with windows 10.

still working on figuring out BIOS, the latest version on MSI website (7b86v14) doesn't correspond to what my BIOS says (1.20)

i had been checking the temps and defintely have thermal past and a adequate fan, i am certain this is not the problem.

another thought....
I had an Intel 600P NVMe SSD card for ages and Windows build 1703 (or 1709) failed as it was discovered that MS didn't like 600P's for some reason.

I gave it another crack with build 1809 and all is again well.

so maybe check the SSD for compatibility as well.
