Im using windows 10 on my pc. Few days back my onboard LAN stopped working and is no more detected. Im connected through wifi now using a wifi adapter. The ping I get on my pc usually ranges from 20-25 and I get 60-80 ping in online games. Sometimes the ping rushes to like 600-2500. Pulling out the wifi adapter and reinserting it sometimes solves the problem but its not a final solution. Sometimes it carries on for like 2 hours. Its quite annoying while im playing games. Just curious to know if its my adapter thats faulty or the internet router or my pc's usb port is creating some issue.

A hard wired internet connection is far better and far more stable than wireless is so the two cannot be compared.

How far away is the computer from the wireless router.

Is there anything between the computer and the wireless router that could be causing interference, cordless telephones and microwave ovens are known issues.

Are there any other devices connecting to the router using a wireless connection.

Pulling out the wifi adapter and reinserting it sometimes solves the problem but its not a final solution. S
Quite correct as before long you will have USB port problems.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Thanks for the reply philpower2
the distance between the router and the adapter is nil since the router is kept on my table the only thing connected to the router apart from the pc is my mobile which I sometimes connect just to confirm if the broadband is still working...
The speccy publish tool is not working as of now so I'm sharing with you the snapshot and the saved result in txt format

Edit by phillpower2: Members Windows product key edited from Speccy txt for security.

Couple of things of note is Speccy that may or may not explain your internet connection issue/s.

Your RAM is only working at 1333MHz while your MB only supports 1600MHz check here not likely to be the cause but it will have been affecting performance, you also have high memory usage for a computer not under any load.

Your two HDDs are overheating, this will affect the performance of the computer as the drives will run slow, lock up and eventually fail.

You are using the Razer Cortex Power Plan, this may well be what is causing some if not all of the overheating, you do not have an add on GPU so really should not be using such a program, the setting will also be drawing more power from the PSU which will also be getting hot, uninstall this program and make sure that your power plan is set to Balanced in Windows.

Hibernation is enabled, this is a less than useless setting that is known to cause issues, disable it "how to" below;

To disable Hibernation:

  1. The first step is to run the command prompt as administrator. In Windows 10, you can do this by right clicking on the start menu and clicking "Command Prompt (Admin)"
  2. Type in "powercfg.exe /h off" without the quotes and press enter. If you typed it in correctly, the cursor will simply start at a new line asking for new input
  3. Now just exit out of command prompt
Last but not least, you will note that your have a lot of Current TCP Connections shown to be Querying, this suggests a problem with the wireless connection, again this could be down to heat affecting the hardware.

What is the brand and model name or number of the wireless device that you are using.

As an asides Davidoff, can I ask while you are located in India you have your Windows Timezone set to the United States, any reason for this?

TimeZone
TimeZone GMT +5:30 Hours
Language English (United States)
Location United States
Format English (United States)
Currency $
Date Format dd-MMM-yy
Time Format h:mm:ss tt

You are welcome btw :)

The two ram blocks im using are probably of different frequencies but it has been creating any issues as of now and both are working at a mutual frequency of 1333.. Regarding the HDD, all the support softwares i use show a decent temperature for the HDD. Since its quite hot here these days and im not having an AC in the computer room, overheating may be happening.
Razer cortex provides some tweaks and boost to the system and closes unnecessary programs while im playing games.. If suggested will surely remove it. Hibernation will be unchecked I rarely use it.
Wireless device used by me is realtek 802.11 wireless lan adapter.
Regarding the location, its probably because some apps dont work If the location Is India. Ihv come across many such apps and that is probably the only reason why my timezone is altered.
Also, what are the upgrades you would suggest for my pc.. Should i go for a new mobo? Im looking to buy gtx 1660 soon enough. What other components would u suggest that I must upgrade...
Thanks again for you time..

RAM, Razer and wireless device info acknowledged (y)

Never heard of this before and regardless you must have your time date and location correct or you will get all sorts of problems, one of the main ones being with Windows not being able to update which puts you at risk of malware attack.

Download and run CrystalDisk info standard edition from here

Run the program, grab any screenshots and attach to your next reply for us.

To capture and post a screenshot;

Click on the ALT key + PRT SCR key..its on the top row..right hand side..now click on start...all programs...accessories...paint....left click in the white area ...press CTRL + V...click on file...click on save...save it to your desktop...name it something related to the screen your capturing... BE SURE TO SAVE IT AS A .JPG ...otherwise it may be to big to upload... after typing in any response you have... click on Upload a File to add the screenshot.

Screenshot instructions are provided to assist those that may read this topic but are not yet aware of the “how to”.

Too soon to be thinking of replacing any hardware at the moment.

You are welcome :)

Cortana doesn't work well enough for the Indian region.

It shouldn't matter where you are for Cortana to work but fwiw I for one disable it by hiding it from from the task bar.

Download MiniToolBox and save the file to the Desktop.
Close the browser and run the tool, check the following options:

  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
  • List Installed Programs
Click on Go.

Post the resulting log in your next reply.

That is not the correct program that you have run, we need you to run CrystalDisk Info not Benchmark.
