Solved PC takes anywhere from a few minutes to eternity during POST.

Oh no, what a disaster, is there no way that the holder can be reattached to the MB, the shroud that was covering the battery should just unclip.

Going offline now but hopefully Peter will be around to assist you.
 
It was hard to find, located under what I think is a heat sink on the lower right corner.
When I took the battery out, its container came with it. Very fragile. Guess that's why they hid it.
According to the manufacture that is the incorrect place.

The battery is located under the cover where the M.2 drives to the left of them.


Scroll until you get to the diagram of the board and then in the lower left click play on the video.

Sorry for late reply, I must have missed it. That is definitely not the same board. The x670 has 4 m.2 slots, one above the GPU and 3 below. I can assure you that the thing I broke actually was the CMOS battery. I have taken them out before, and it looked exactly the same as in the video. Well, almost. I think the container was slightly different. And believe, I thoroughly checked every other location on the board, before unscrewing the heat spreader.

But I really appreciate your attention to detail here. It is quite impressive.
