Solved PC shuts down (seemingly) randomly

Hello :)
What happens is that whenever I play a game, (Overwatch, CSGO, Minecraft, Valorant, Vagante (an Indie Game), Valheim, Destiny 2) my PC shuts down seemingly at random occassions, like for example during the main menu after I've played a game of Overwatch. It is strange because I can run almost all games on decent FPS (120+), yet it happens once or twice a week. I've checked multiple times if it's not due to computer overheating, which has proven to not be the case.

My specs:
INTEL CORE i5 - 9400F 2,9 GHz
GIGABYTE pb500, 500W 80+
NVIDIA GTX 1660
HyperX 8 GB 3200 MHz x2
Motherboard MSI B360M Bazooka
(let me know if I had missed anything in the specs)

Couple of things for you to do for us if you will;

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.


Download MiniToolBox and save the file to the Desktop.

Close the browser and run the tool, check the following options;

List last 10 Event Viewer Errors
List Installed Programs
List Devices (Only Problems)
List Users, Partitions and Memory size

Click on Go.

Post the resulting log in your next reply for us.
 
For future reference, before running the MTB tool you can choose the required language, if we need a fresh log can you do this for us as we may miss something otherwise.

Some strange goings on there with some of the drivers that have been installed, did you happen to notice the dates of the following two;

Hotfixes
Installed
20. 2. 2021 INTEL - System - 10.1.14.8
INTEL System driver update released in July 1968
19. 2. 2021 INTEL - System - 10.1.16.7
INTEL System driver update released in July 1968
19. 2. 2021 A-Volute - SoftwareComponent - 3.2.2.0

Your two main problems appear to be with the Realtek audio drivers and Avast.

Before we go any further, do you have any non legit/cracked/pirated software on your computer.
 
No, I don't pirate any software whatsoever. This is a pre-built PC from trustworthy company that has nice reputation so I don't think there is a pirate software .

I did have Avast antivirus purchased for 2 subsequent years, but currently I have the free version
 
Had to ask as you have so much stuff installed and non legit software is one sure fire way of causing yourself issues.

Will come to Avast next and address the Realtek audio drivers issue first.

Create a new folder on the desktop, name it Realtek audio drivers.
Download and save to the folder the latest Realtek audio drivers from here
Create a new system restore point then uninstall the present Realtek audio drivers.
Restart the computer in Safe Mode only (No Networking).
Install the new audio drivers that you saved to the folder on your desktop.
Restart the computer, test then post back with an update for us.

Avast is no longer widely recommended by any forum as it has become a monster, it foists all sorts of stuff on folk without them knowing and causes various problems by installing browser plug ins that cause conflicts etc, it can also be a nightmare to uninstall as it leaves traces here there and everywhere if you are not careful, you don`t need any third party AV or Firewall as Windows own Defender and Firewall are more than up to the task of protecting your computer.

You can uninstall Avast in the Control Panel but should you have any problems see Avast clean removal info here Please create a new system restore point first.
 
Did you follow all of the exact steps as post in my reply #6.

Where in the Device Manager are you checking and have you restarted the computer since installing the new drivers.
 
hey, I seem to not be able to get rid of avast, even though it no longer shows up as something that is installed, it is still present in the speccy log. I tried to uninstall it multiple times
 
How has the computer been behaving since your last update, let us know when you post the info that is requested below;

Lets try another way to get rid of Avast.

Post an Autoruns log for us, see here

1: Extract the Autoruns Zip file contents to a folder.

2: Double-click the "Autoruns.exe".

3: Click on the "Hide Signed Microsoft and Windows Entries” option.

4: Go to File then to Export As or Save in some versions.

5: Save AutoRuns.txt file to known location like your Desktop > when you click on File > Save you will then get the option to Save as type, click the drop down tab, change it to Text and then click the Save button.

Hey! Good news, I waited with the report on PC's behaviour: I didn't come across any random shutdowns (im quite baffled that sound drivers may have very well been the cause of this issue)

Once done, restart, run Autoruns again and post the new log so we can make sure that no Avast entries got missed - by me ;)
