I couldnt think of a title for the post so i said that. I am bad at describing stuff so ill do my best:
While im doing anything on my pc, playing games, doing work, doesnt matter what, the monitors will stop displaying correctly and just go a solid color (the color changes every time). During the time that this happens i am unable to hear anything from my headphones. The only way I can fix it is to totally restart my pc.

I am no tech expert, an ant probably knows more about my pc than me, but i really dont think this is a monitor issue because I would still be getting audio if it was. I would include pc specs and stuff but i have no ****ing clue whats in my pc or even how to see that stuff. All i know is that its a rebuilt thats 4-5 years old and was given to me by a friend who I am no longer in contact with. I have no clue whats causing this and I would really appreciate some help.

yep, with vger so far with this one.
sounds like a dust build-up issue.

no offence biggoot, but by your own admission, I'm assuming your lack of PC knowledge probably extends to no maintenance on the PC.
if so, remove the side cover and blow it out with an air compressor or can of compressed air.
pay special attention to anything with a fan, but in general, hitting every surface with a blast of air.
you'll get people warning you not to directly blast the fans as it makes them exceed their RPM limits. that may be true but I've never had any negative outcomes from blasting all the PC's I've serviced over the years with the trusty garage air compressor.

i would then remove the memory chips and graphics card (if present) and wipe their contacts and motherboard slots.
but you need a little savvy on that front, so try the air blasting first.

If you use a shop air compressor, make sure the airline has a line air drier ,this keeps any moisture off the pc hardware.. Canned compressed air is a good way to go .
