PC problems, no image on screen

Problem:
The PC seems to start, the fans are running, but I get no image on the screen. I cannot enter the BIOS, even when holding down the delete key during startup.

The PC was working fine until yesterday. I had just playing a game (Microsoft Flight Sim 2020) and I got a black screen (CTD), and when I tried to restart it, probably stood for 10 min and without anything coming up on the screen, then I tried holding the start button until it started again, but the same result.

Things I have tried:
  • Flashed the BIOS using a USB stick. PC ran for about 4-6 minutes and then restarted.
  • Put in a new battery on the motherboard.
  • Reset the CMOS by removing the battery and shorting the pins.
  • Tried two different screens.
  • I also tried using a different cable.
  • Removed the graphics card and tried using the integrated graphics on motherboard, but still no image.
  • Now I have removed the BIOS battery and will leave it for 24 hours before inserting it again.
My equipment: (About 2 1/5 years old)
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X MPK AM4, 8 cores/16 threads, 3.8/4.7Ghz
  • Graphics card: ASUS GeForce RTX 3060 Ti TUF GAMING OC
  • Motherboard: MSI MAG X570 TOMAHAWK WIFI
  • RAM: 4x G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4 3600Mhz 8GB (32GB)
  • HD: Corsair MP600 CORE 1TB M.2 SSD
  • HD: Kingston A2000 1TB M.2 2280 NVMe SSD
  • Power: Gigabyte AORUS P850W Gold
  • Cooling: Arctic Cooling Liquid Freezer II
Windows 11
I am at a loss as to what to do next. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  • P.S. Sorry for my English, I use google translate.

Flashed the BIOS using a USB stick. PC ran for about 4-6 minutes and then restarted.

How did you manage to flash the BIOS with nothing coming up on screen.

Removed the graphics card and tried using the integrated graphics on motherboard, but still no image.

The MB has video ports but they will only work if the CPU has on die video and your processor doesn't
.
Now I have removed the BIOS battery and will leave it for 24 hours before inserting it again.

Something that I often suggest but in addition to doing this you need to disconnect the PC from the wall socket and press/hold in the case power button for 20 or so seconds so as the get any residual charge in the system and primarily the BIOS chip.

Upon reassembly just attach the screen and be 100% sure to connect the keyboard or the power on self test ( POST ) will fail.

Tried two different screens.

Do you get anything on screen at all, a No Signal message for example.

Cooling: Arctic Cooling Liquid Freezer II

Have you checked to see if this is working - can you hear the pump working etc.

Just a fyi;

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X MPK AM4, 8 cores/16 threads, 3.8/4.7Ghz
  • RAM: 4x G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4 3600Mhz 8GB (32GB)

The RAM is not appropriate for your CPU, AMD state here up to 3200MHz/MT/s and if you have DOCP/EXPO/XMP enabled the RAM will get auto OCd past what the CPU can handle and the PC will become unstable.

answer to

phillpower2

When I insert the USB stick and hold down the flash button with a pen, and switch on the power, then a white light flashes inside the cabinet, a light also flashes on the memory stick

The blue light at the bottom of the frame flashes, but the screen itself is black

I will try to hold in the case power button for 20

So a tip about removing the battery on HK for at least 24 hours. Have to wait about 5 more hours

Not sure why you went near the BIOS in all honesty, it is risky enough updating the BIOS on a working system and no way should a BIOS flash be attempted on a broken computer, the black screen could mean that the MB is bricked.

The blue light at the bottom of the frame flashes, but the screen itself is black

That normally means that the problem is with the screen because when the problem is with the source of the video or the cable that is meant to carry the video signal you normally get a No Signal message on screen.

Have you checked to see if this is working - can you hear the pump working etc.

Can you also answer the above,

If using a computer and not a mobile phone, please avoid adding multiple posts while waiting for us to reply to your last, edit your last post to include anything that you wish to add, this will ensure nothing gets overlooked which can sometimes happen if a thread has more than one page, it avoids filling up folks inbox and last but not least it amounts to bumping your thread which is not appropriate and will not get you a reply any quicker.

Question for you, was the screen staying blank before or after the BIOS was flashed.

To check that the pump is working you will have to wait until you are ready to try starting the system up again, what I suggest that you do meanwhile is remove the RAM and GPU from the MB and keep them somewhere safe and when you are ready do the below;

Put one stick of RAM into A2 which is the second slot away from the CPU.

Put the GPU back in and connect the supplemental power dongle from the PSU to the card.

Make sure that the 24-pin ATX main power connector, 8-pin ATX 12V power connector, the 4-pin ATX 12V power connector and the 4-pin water-pump connector are each securely connected, you should also make sure that the cooler is connected to the correct header on the MB.

Put the CMOS battery back in.

Connect the keyboard and the mains power cord.

Power up with your fingers crossed.

If you still have no display but the PC remains running, listen closely to see if you can hear the cooling pump humming, if still unsure and only if you are confident to do so, gently place a hand atop of the pump to see if you can feel it vibrating.

Post back with an update when you are ready.

NB: Suggest that if you do not have them close to hand, download the user manuals for your liquid cooler, GPU and MB to help you check that all your connections are correct.

Screen staying blank before the BIOS was flashed.

Thanks, reason why this is important is it suggests that it is not the GPU at fault.

You mentioned having tried two different screens, are they both dedicated PC screens.

Okay, were you aware that when using a TV for a display you have to set the TV to look for the computers video signal using the TVs remote control and Source button, the setting getting changed somehow would result in you getting a blank screen, this only relevant to before the BIOS was flashed.

Any feedback regarding the steps that were suggested.
