Solved PC is locking up when under load and when idling

Hey all, I've had this problem in the past but i thought i fixed it, I'm at my wits end with troubleshooting on my own

The Problem: So basically, the problem is when i boot up any game, within 5-15mins my PC will cut video signal, go to a "No Input Detected" screen, or just a Black screen. I can still hear audio, from the game, from Spotify, and Windows. Also maybe important, i tried to alt+tab after video went out, and it cut the game audio and i heard Windows make some kind of alert noise or something. Its also done this just sitting on desktop with just spotify playing. In all of these situations, i have to hard power down and cant get video signal back at all.

I'll just lay out a few things I've done to try to solve it.

So far, I've rolled back Graphics card drivers, and reinstalled them, ran DDU. Tried to experiment with VSync on/off (this is what solved my problem last time), checked temps while running games, I've checked Event Viewer after re-booting, and the same error is always there

Also I did notice that this problem started when i downloaded Wallpaper Engine on steam and had a background playing, I've since uninstalled it and just have a still desktop background

Any help would be greatly appreciated

It could be related to a power issue with video card not getting enough power when playing a game which is why the black screen happens. Have you tried replacing the power supply with a more efficient unit to rule out a power delivery issue?

Are you overclocking any components?

Have you updated your motherboards BIOS to the latest version?

Hey there i don't have another PSU cause I'm a little short on money at the moment.
I'm not over clocking anything, and i did update my bios and it made my problem quite a bit worse, now i can barely stay on desktop, it crashes almost as soon as I log in
 
What Operating system are you running?

Do you have the install media?
If yes open the command prompt form there and run System File Checker


If not see about booting into Safe Mode is there any difference?
Hey thanks for the quick reply, so i have Windows 10 Pro on version 10.0.19043
I ran SFC last night and it said it found corrupted files and repaired them, but no difference at all
I booted into safe mode twice while having a friend help me and it never crashed on there

Did you run the DISM?

Some time have to run the SFC more than once.

Since Safe Mode runs lets see if the system will allow you form here to preform a Clean Boot and test the system that way.

 
You might also want to run a Check Disk on the HDD.


Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog
Type powershell.exe
Then press Enter.

In PowerShell, copy and paste the command below, and press Enter.
get-winevent -FilterHashTable @{logname="Application"; id="1001"}| ?{$_.providername –match "wininit"} | fl timecreated, message | out-file Desktop\CHKDSKResults.txt

The CHKDSKResults.txt file will be created on your desktop,

Running Check disk now, will post as soon as its done
I ran the DISM to no avail, and ran SFC 2 more times to be sure
I clean booted and i tried to boot up 2 different games, and they both crashed within 2-3 minutes which is better than i've been able to get in the past 24 hours

Hey there, so Check disk finished, but when i run that line in powershell, it makes the txt file but its totally blank? im not sure what im missing. i attaached a screenshot of the CMD window when checkdisk was finished and i still have it open

What was the complete command that you ran?

is the only drive you have listed and windows should of restarted and not have ran in the Command Prompt.
I ran the exact line you posted in poweshell if thats what you mean.

Oh **** i totally forgot to put my SSD on that list, my SSD is my C drive which is where Windows is, and my HDD is just other storage

Sorry my brain is just fried i accidentally ran it on my HDD and not my SSD, ill post once check disk is done again

Both drive are showing no bad sectors that is a good thing.


Have you tried rolling the entire system back to a prior date?
That is if Windows Back up is turned on.

There may be leftover from this that can be still causing issues.

Please download MiniToolBox and save it to your desktop. Run the program by right clicking on it and selecting Run as administrator. When the program opens select the following boxes:

Flush DNS
Report IE Proxy Settings
Reset IE Proxy Settings
Report FF Proxy Settings
Reset FF Proxy Settings
List content of Hosts
List IP Configuration
List Winsock Entries
List last 10 Event Viewer Errors
List Installed Programs
List Devices (Only Problems)
List Users, Partitions and Memory size


COPY and PASTE the complete information for the MTB.txt file into you next post.

Lets create a new windows account and see if logging in with the new account works properly.

If it works correctly that will show that the user is corrupt and not Windows.

On the affected user uninstall Kaspersky which you can reinstall. Prior you may need to find the License number that way you can reinstall correctly.
