Solved Pc does not post, showing no signal on monitor

Status
Not open for further replies.
Pc Specs:

Cpu- Ryzen 7 3700x

Gpu- Gigabyte rx 6800xt OC

Ram- 2666 mhz adata o.c to 3200mhz

Psu- Antec Hcg 1000w

Motherboard- Msi b450 tomahawk max

Monitor- Acer XV272u v3

Issue-

Monitor has been showing no signal and goes to power saving mode automatically since three days. This had happened once before but i do not remember how i resolved it. The ez bug shows red on all once one by one except for ram and does it again in the same order after a few seconds and stops completely but does not stay lit on any continuously although it stays on cpu for a few seconds more. At the beginning the red light did stay at vga and dram but after cleaning and reseating the red lights had gone. I also tried repasting the cpu and reseated it as well properly. I also tried other solutions such as clearing cmos, removing cmos battery, shorting the jumper jbat1, but all failed, tried individually all components none seem to have any problems. There are two things to mention. I had overclocked my cpu to 4.35ghz and also the ram to 3200mhz. I am using an aio for the cpu. Hope you can help me out since i use my pc both for work and gaming.

Have you reset the BIOS back to factory?
(If rest rechange the settings and or try slightly different ones for the RAM)

Ram- 2666 mhz adata o.c to 3200mhz

How many sticks?

Try one at a time in each of the slots see if there is any change.

Could be over stressed and starting to fail.

Do you have a different display card that you can try with and or a different system that you can put the GPU in and confirms that it works.

Another test that you can do is assemble the system outside of the case and see if it acts the same.

Have you tried booting to Safe Mode and or to an OS via USB like Windows Install or Linus to see if the system shows anything.

If it does, then there may be a driver and or the setting are incorrect.

I am not bale to see the screen since it sends no signal, but i did make sure to clear the cmos and take out the battery as well, but nothing happened except for the no signal on the monitor
Tried each ram with each slot, but when doing so the red light stays on boot ez bug led. But goes away after each cmos reset and again it checks from cpu to boot where cpu light stays a little longer and then passes on without staying lit on any.
Sorry but i do not have any other system or graphics card to check so yeah that's a bummer 😞.
No i have not yet tried to boot into safe mode since monitor says no signal also did not try going to windows through usb like windows install.

strip it all down and reassemble on a piece of cardboard.
cleaning as you go.
only re-connect the core essentials - at this stage we only want to get a signal on the screen - so only one RAM, no keyboard or mouse, only one drive, no USB devices, no PCI-e cards except the GPU, that sort of thing.

Sure will try but my case is a difficult one to tackle, since inserting screws and making other changes which may seem minor is extremely difficult on mine, it is not small either, it is mid tower but still such issues hence the hesitation. Will try though. If there are other suggestions hope you could do so.

I forgot to mention one thing i.e when connecting the keyboard it lits up properly, also the caps lock and numlock works as intended as they show their indicator whenever i press it. Incase it helps to tell you more about the problem.

I have attached pics on how the ez bug led transitions from starting to end if that helps.

Sorry, but i for got to mention that i have 4 sticks of ram each 8gb and the same brand but model is different, 2 of same model and other 2 of same model.

Take a photo of the cable connected to the back of the system and post.

Has this system ever worked correctly?
If so when did this start.

I had overclocked my cpu to 4.35ghz

Could be the issue.

What happens if you only use the 2 sticks that are the same.

What is the current BIOS on the system?

Do you know of someone that can loan you a GPU that you can see if that makes a difference.

Gpu- Gigabyte rx 6800xt OC

May also be that they card you are using is not combatable with the motherboard or that it is over clocked.

did not try going to windows through usb like windows install.

Will check the validify if it is the display card or not.

Okay, so just found out that the GPU is the issue. Tried another gpu from a friend with great effort and...viola it worked. My gpu is not in warranty either. I never would have guessed it was the gpu all along coz the fans were working and it is powering up without issues but only shows no signal displayed to the monitor. Could it have happened due to the drivers. I used ddu to uninstall the drivers and reseated the gpu but still no response. Hope you could help me out how to go on further.

You can attempt what was suggested by using Safe Mode or USB install media of Windows and or Linux as stated in other post.

Since your friends GPU is working see if they would be willing to try yours and or take it to a shop and have them diagnose it.

From the sounds so far, the card has gone or is a compatibility issue and refer to the links provided in other post.

Thank you for your guidance. The card is definitely compatible because it was working well till 7 days before. I do remember the problem started when the pc went into the standby mode and when powering it on again it suddenly would just not turn on so i restarted the pc and viola...no signal.

My friend is not ready to use my gpu since he is not ready to take any risks that comes with it in his system, also his psu is not strong enough to accommodate mine.

I do not know how to use safe mode when the pc just shows black screen with no signal. I have yet to try the usb windows install method since my pc started perfectly without any issues when using my friends display card.

I will try the other steps and see if something can help me get it working.

The No Signal message means that the screen is fine and that the problem is with the source of the video or the cable that carries the video signal.

If you used the same video cable when you successfully used your friends GPU it 100% confirms that the original GPU is the cause.

If it were driver related you would still be able to see the BIOS area and the No Signal message would only appear once the BIOS had handed over control to Windows.

@XeroZen - any progress?
Hi thanks for all the help and suggestions. You are right the gpu is the issue since at the time used the same cable. Guess it is no driver issue then. Is the gpu finished totally or maybe it could be repaired somehow. Is there any hope, or i have to change the gpu totally which i am not sure would want to do.

Nine times out of ten it is not a financially viable option to repair internal hardware and the only way to find out what is wrong is to pay a local tech to check it out, be sure to ask what any charge will be before you commit to getting the card tested.
