PC detecting DualShock4 but no software is detecting it

I have tried so many different ways to solve this and I am at a complete loss.

When my controller is plugged in my PC will detect it and it will output audio through it, I can speak through it when my headset is plugged in and that all works fine. However, no games or software will detect it meaning I can't use it to play any games. Steam, epic Games, Battlenet never detect it as an input, Big Picture mode in steam doesn't detect it as an input either. I have tried DS4Windows and that doesn't help because that won't even detect the controller. I have removed the drivers and reinstalled them, I have stopped it being used as an audio device and that doesn't change anything and I am at a complete loss. I have made sure every piece of software is up to date, I have updated windows and all the drivers, that doesn't solve anything.

I want to be able to play games on controller and speak/hear through my headset when it's plugged into my controller.

I have no idea what else to try, any help would be greatly appreciated!

let's get some more eyes on this - @Bastet

while we wait, let's get your complete PC specs.
get Speccy from here; https://www.piriform.com/speccy/builds
in Speccy, click File > Publish Snapshot > Copy to Clipboard > Close.
now you can paste (Ctrl+V) that link into a post.

One component Speccy doesn’t cover is the Power Supply Unit, so please also include the make/model of the PSU.

Is the controller showing as a wired or wireless or something else when connected?
Are you using the genuine cable or a third party?
Does the controller light bar show any colour? It should show yellow when charging.
Have you used the pinhole on the back to reset the DS4?
