Overclocking processor, RAM issue?

Specs:
W10
i7 3820
Asus Rampage IV Gene
Samsung 850 EVO (x2; one 120GB for OS, one 250GB for games)
Kingston HyperX Savage 16GB 2400MHz DDR3 (2x8GB)
EVGA GTX 1080
Seasonic MII12 750W

I'd like to OC the processor to a bit over 4ghz. I have watched videos and read guides on the process and I'm confident I can do it. But I heard in one video that one of the settings changed in the BIOS also overclocks the RAM. My motherboard has a ram spreed limit of 2400mhz I'm pretty sure, and that's what my RAM is at the moment. Is this an issue?

Thanks, I actually went ahead and tried just using the multiplier without the base clock since I'm really just wanting to OC to 4.2 - 4.4ghz. It seemed any alteration I made (to either multiplier or bclk) resulted in an "Overclock failure"

My BIOS looks very different from the ones in the demo videos, the instructions are not working.

Hi RElucia15, Welcome to PCHF! :)

Here is your motherboard manual available here, Rampage IV Gene.

I'm sure there is a section on overclocking your CPU but since every motherboard will have slightly different overclocking settings, the only thing you need to focus on for overclocking is the CPU multiplier.

Since your CPU which is the Intel Core i7 3820, its a locked CPU which means you cannot increase your CPU's multiplier as the chip will not allow you to overclock it without having an unlocked CPU. You will need to overclock the front side bus instead which will also overclock your RAM as well instead of just the CPU.

You will not be able to push your CPU very far since its not unlocked so your overclock gains will be hampered by how far you can push your RAM speed.
