Outlook stopped receiving emails

Not open for further replies.
My Outlook email has suddenly stopped receiving emails.

When I press “Send/Receive”, the box showing progress comes up, as normal but it appears the “Receive “section completes instantly - I do not have the gradual increase bar that normally appears as the folder syncs.

If I use the “Repair” function on the account, I get the MS test message and emails download.

If I click “Work Offline” button then go back online it receives messages.
It appears there is no send issue - they go instantly automatically.

It’s been working fine for ages – just happened out of the blue.
Help please!

Have they made any changes to the configuration ports that are needed?

What release of Outlook?

How long has this been happening?

Have you removed the account configuration the readded it?

Have you sent an email to yourself, did you get it (not the test one)?

If I use the “Repair” function on the account, I get the MS test message and emails download.
You state that it works fine after the repair for how long?

Is the place you are getting you email from having issues?

Is there another system that has that email address configured with and is it receiving them?

Sorry I don’t understand that

Have you sent an email to yourself, did you get it (not the test one)?
Sent and received when I switched from one outlook folder back to inbox.

Works as in it downloads the emails from the synched accounts -just that one time

None reported

No way of knowing

one more thing to add to the above list, try a Quick Repair, and failing that, an Online Repair of the Office program from Programs & Features, right click your Office entry, choose Change.
Oh *** -did the quick repair, no change.
Did the online repair and have now lost MS Office!!!
Had message syaing could not install office :cry::cry:

in that case, however you put it on your PC initially would need to happen again.
did you install from DVD or download it from the MS download centre site?
either way - do it again.
all your emails will still be there in the PST file.

Do you have another computer, tablet, device with that email address configured on it?

Have you removed the account configuration the readded it?

Sorry I don’t understand that
Delete the configuration out for the affected email and then reconfigure it back inro outlook.

Have you gone through the configuration from the E-Mail service to confirm that it is configured correctly?

If you are using POP mail you willhave a pst as Bruce mentioned.
Before reinstalling you might want to make a copy of your current .pst folder
and put it on a usb or in your documents.
A reinstall should not affect the current .pst but it does not hurt to have a backup.
Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook folder.
This is a hidden folder

Here's how to display hidden files and folders.

Windows 10

  1. In the search box on the taskbar, type folder, and then select Show hidden files and folders from the search results.
  2. Under Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives, and then select OK.
