Solved Orange / Blue screen during USB boot

If you mean that if you try booting from the same USB device on both computers the same thing happens it suggests that either the Windows media is no good or that the USB device itself is faulty.

Best thing to do is check the ISO that you have on the USB thumbdrive. see Qemu info here for how to do this

If you don`t get the Windows logo as can be seen in the attachment below it suggests that an ISO is non bootable.

We are not interested in the ISO on the desktop only the one on the USB device and what you describe suggests that the ISO on it is ok.

Two important things to remember when trying to boot from a USB device;

(1) The USB device must be in a black USB 2.0 port and not a blue or red USB 3/3.1 port.

(2) You need to disable secure boot in the BIOS, see steps below;

For computers that have UEFI as opposed to legacy BIOS, to be able to boot from your USB device you may need to disable secure boot and change UEFI to CSM Boot, not all computers and BIOS are the same, please refer to your user manual if you have one as the following steps are only one such example.

While the computer is re-starting,you will need to continually tap or hold down the particular key that will allow you to access the BIOS on your computer, we will use the F2 key as an example here;

After restarting the computer, when the screen goes black, press and hold down the F2 key, wait for the BIOS to load.

Select Security -> Secure Boot and then Disabled.

Select Advanced -> System Configuration and then Boot Mode.

Change UEFI Boot to CSM Boot. (It may say Legacy).

Save the changes and Exit the BIOS, commonly F10.

You want Legacy or CSM, this was mentioned in my reply #6;

With the best will in the world we cannot be expected to know the exact steps for every single MB

That`s good news at least but just so you know you got lucky using that approach as what normally happens is that Windows tries to load the drivers for the previous computers MB which as you can imagine doesn`t end well.

You can migrate whatever is on the HDD to the SSD and then swap them around in the boot configuration afterwards, we don`t know your SSD details so we will use an example of one that is very popular and that is Samsung Magician

Why don`t you just do what you asked about and clone the install that is on the HDD over to the SSD.

Marking this thread as solved, the OPs initial query has been resolved, a means of cloning Windows from one drive to another has been provided and PCHF does not help with suggestions from elsewhere.
