Solved No network fix

Status
Not open for further replies.
Hi everyone.
My PC has been giving me this issue for a while now where it connects to the internet but tells me I have no network.
I have internet access and most functions work fine without it but, as a result, I can't play certain games or do any Windows updates so I was hoping if anyone could help me to fix this?

If I hover the mouse over the ethernet icon in the bottom right it says "not connected - no connections available" but like I said, I do still have internet access.
Please help.

Welcome to PCHF Frenchels.

Could be a browser security plug in issue.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

We can see a couple of problems in your Speccy report, you are running Windows 10 Version 1703 which means that you are missing 2+ years worth of updates and therefore at risk of malware attack and what could potentially be affecting your internet service McAfee WebAdvisor which is a security plug in that is complete garbage.

You can uninstall McAfee in the Control Panel but should you have any problems see McAfee product removal tool (MCPR) here Please create a new system restore point first.

Once you have gotten rid of all traces of McAfee you need to get Windows Defender up to date, allow Defender to carry out a full scan and then start getting Windows 10 fully up to date, post back when you are running version 1903, it will take you a while but no rush on our behalf.

Okay well I can uninstall McAfee but I can't do any windows updates because of the network error. That is why everything is so out of date. Is there a different way to do windows updates because if I try use the windows updater it fails.

Okay so I uninstalled McAfee and it still wouldn't do updates but what I ended up doing is I used the media creation tool 1903 and reinstalled windows and that seemed to fix the problem. thanks for all the help man :) I really appreciate it.
Windows is officially up to date again and the network problem is fixed as well.
