Hi all, looking for advice.
My son is Autistic, and his life is his pc, however recently it has refused to boot.
It has windows 10 installed, and he installed ubuntu on a seperate ssd.
Neither os will boot. Have tried recovering windows but it simply say it cannot recover. Have tried rebuilding mbr ..will not do that either. Keeps trying to boot to X:. Can see recovery drives . But cant find an mbr anywhere. Any advice at all would be great as my son is getting down without his pc..
P.s. I'm not an expert, so forgive me if i ask stupid questions.

First set your machine to Boot from USB.
Plug in and format your USB storage device.
Download the linux live USB creator.
Install it then Download boot repair disk 64bit.
Save this to your desktop.
Choose your key, direct the tool to your usb.
Then direct the tool to the Boot repair Iso on your desktop.
Then click on the lightning icon.
After the iso is mounted to your USB
Restart the computer.
Start a 64 bit session.
Once it's loaded click on recommended repair.
Allow this to run unhindered.
Let me know the outcome.

Sorry for the delay, been extremely busy. The tool you suggested didn't work, but the error message said to run manual fcsk, I think. So I found the command to do this and managed to get ubuntu running.
Unfortunately windows is still not booting at all.
Again many thanks for any help given, it is much appreciated.

Still refusing to load windows.
Can see all partitions including recovery, but cannot boot to them. Tried all the windows tools, media creation etc. But no joy.
Many thanks for any help .

How old is this system?
Prefabricated system of Home made?

Is there data on the system that you want pictures documents and such?

Does the system have a DVD or better?
If not then you can use a USB drive.

Can you access the Ubuntu that is installed on the SSD?
If not you can use a Live version of Linux and retrieve your data then do a complete wipe and reinstall.

Remember to install the Motherboard and Chipset first then the rest of the drivers in the proper order.
Once everything is back up and running IMAGE the drive this way if it happens again for what ever reason you can restore it with less hassle.
