Solved Nexusfonts picking up fonts installed from Google fonts

I see you've got a nice resource guide for Nexusfonts and hopefully you can provide some guidance on a problem. I've recently discovered that Nexusfont won't recognize font files that I've installed from Google fonts. The fonts I've tested are Atma and Merienda. I installed the fonts properly into Windows 10 and restarted my laptop. When I load Nexusfont and look at the list of installed fonts, Atma and Merienda are not there.

Any suggestions? I've got a ton of fonts categorized in Nexusfont, I really like the program and don't want to have to switch to another font manager.

Hi, sorry for the delay. Can you use the google fonts in Windows ok?

Have never used any google fonts and it appears you need some "special" software to download and install them in windows?????

Yes Nexusfont is a great free app with a lot of features common to expensive commercial apps. The ability to only activate fonts as needed is great.

As an experiment I just downloaded some fonts from google without using their "skyfont" application. The fonts downloaded as a zipped folder. Unzipped the download folder and added all the font files in that folder to a new folder/group in nexusfont. Selected them all in nexusfont and bingo they were activated and available in Windows. Beauty of doing it that way was that there was no need to install them in windows, although that was an option, and closing nexusfont unactivated the fonts, although still available to be reactivated if required later.

Windows 10 does not suffer from installing too many fonts like earlier versions of windows did. I think from memory anything over about 500 fonts seriously affected the performance of Windows XP. With that said it is not good housekeeping to install any more fonts in Windows 10 than necessary. This machine I'm writing on now has about 300 fonts installed, but another 8-900 in folders that can be activated only as necessary.

The google fonts installed into Windows 10 with no problem. I'm not sure about the "skyfont" application. Normally, I just add the font(s) to the cart and then download them, install in Windows 10 and they appear as installed on Nexusfont next time I open the program. I haven't tried the working with the folders.

Okay!! That works great!! What a great trick! I already had the fonts in a folder (from the zip), so I added the folder under the Sample Folders in the Library. Now they are installed and I added them to the appropriate categories.

Glad you got it sorted, and didn't give up on a great app. Don't pretend to be an expert on Nexusfont but hopefully if you have any future issues we can help?
