Solved New Windows 10 PC wifi not working

Status
Not open for further replies.
I just built a new pc and everything works perfectly, except my wifi. I bought a cheap usb wifi adapter from amazon and it was trash so I returned it and bought a netgear one, It was getting 50mbs down and 5mbs up, it was great, I left it running to download games and applications when I went to work, when I came back the wifi wouldn't get above 5mbs, and had enourmous ping. I returned the usb adapter cause I thought that maybe the usbs just weren't good enough. I went to get a reputable wifi card, and same thing, no more than 5mbs down. Ive reinstalled/updated drivers tons of times, ive reseted ip configs, Ive disable firewalls and everything, nothing works. So I just did a complete reset of windows, and nothing has changed, same thing. Idk wth is wrong, I'm pretty good with computers regurlarly, but ive finally met my match, someone please help.

Specs:
MOBO: gigabyte b250m ds3h
GPU: gtx 1060 3gb OC
RAM: 4x2 8gb ddr4
CPU: i5 7400
CPU cooler: Hyper 212 evo
HDD: 1tb
SSD: 128gb
Wifi card: TPLINK TL-WDN4800

I am sorry to hear that. We can assist you with that.

You mentioned that you have already tried updating the driver, refreshing the ip, and disabling your firewall.

Have you tried performing a power cycle on the modem and router?

What is the make and model of your router?

Have you tried updating the router firmware?

------------------------------
Also, just to get some more general information -

Please download MiniToolBox and save it to your desktop. Run the program by right clicking on it and selecting Run as administrator. When the program opens select the following boxes:

Flush DNS
Report IE Proxy Settings
Reset IE Proxy Settings
Report FF Proxy Settings
Reset FF Proxy Settings
List content of Hosts
List IP Configuration
List Winsock Entries
List last 10 Event Viewer Errors
List Installed Programs
List Devices
List Users, Partitions and Memory size

Please post the log in your next reply :D.

Thanks for replying so fast. I have not tried restarting the router, but I know that its definatly up to date, as I always make sure of it. As I write this post I restarted the router and everything Is a ok now, I think my router just needed to restart to recognize the new computer completely!!! Although I am worried that I will continue to have problems, but if so I will let you know.

That is great, it would be a good idea to try Samurias suggestion aswell.

I am glad the power cycle has worked for you though.

Just to confirm, are you saying this issue is solved?
