i have installed a new ssd drive of 480 gb and i had a 890 gb hdd, all of my files are in the old hdd and when i boot up the computer it loads a new like desktop and when serching in the windows serch it wont find any application i have installed on the hdd. how can i get my desktop and files back to what they were with the ssd drive staying as the windows boot drive. so i can basically open lets say discord or steam from the hdd normally.

What you describe is normal and the only way to achieve what you are hoping to do would be to clean install to the SSD any particular program that you use the most.
Depending on how much data is on the HDD you may have been better to have cloned the data on the original HDD to the new SSD.

thanks, i understand , i have 800 gb of data on the old hdd and 470 free space on the ssd , is it still possible to clone the files to there?
Unfortunately no as cloning involves cloning the entire contents of the original storage device.
I don`t bother cloning anything for myself these days and much prefer clean installing Windows, the drivers and then any programs, the one time that I would go to the time and trouble would be if a person specifically asked me to clone the drive.

hello, i deleted some files i didnt need till the hdd became like 250 gb, then i cloned the hdd to the ssd but when i tried booting up windows with the ssd it would not let me boot it up, i would see the ssd in the bios but not the hdd and same thing the other way around , if i see the hdd i wont see the ssd, and doesnt matter what i cant boot windows from the ssd ( i have windows on both of the drives) what can i do? tried every SATA slot and checked everything but everything should be fine
yes if i remove the ssd the pc will boot from the hdd, doesnt matter what it will eventually end up booting up from the hdd, seems like ill try to clean install windows on the ssd
It is a bad clone from the HDD to the SSD by the looks of it then.
Good call with a clean install of Windows and the MB drivers to the SSD, when it comes to installing the drivers for the MB it is advisable to install the chipset drivers first, it helps the following drivers install better.
