Hi Guys, I upgraded my pc recently. I have a ssd drive which has got full very quick, but I do have a 2nd drive of 1 tb Sata. I love trying out some new Linux Distros using a USB stick. I just cannot get it to boot from the linux system , even after I change the boot sequence. I even tried upgrading this Windows 10 to Window 11, but it told me the CPU would not except it. I have added a copy of my system in the hope some one might advise me . I really appreciate any help I might get. Bear with me if I have left some information out. I could only add the Text version of Speccy as I did not know how to add the other snapshot.

Thank you so much

Hi Jimmy

Let's get a better look at speccy.
Linux will not boot if you have secure boot and fast boot on in the bios.
Window 10/11 etc has nothing to do with it. What linux distro are you trying to use.
How did you make the usb.
If you change the fast and secure boot in the bios you will have to repair or reinstall windows

Can you Download and run and then post. https://www.ccleaner.com/speccy/download
To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot dialog box. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

The last part of each URL is randomized, so only people you provide with the URL will be able to find your profile.

The information given in Speccy cannot be used by anyone to hack your system

Could you also include the power supply specs E.g Cooler Master 850W Gold V2 NOT E.g 850w

Hi PeterOz, I am trying to use Zorin-OS 16.2 Core 64 bit. I downloaded the it from the linux site , then copied it to a USB stick. The new pc is called an XUM ENTERPRISE.
http://speccy.piriform.com/results/g4meT0kHoTReiFbr6zltImW. Hope I did this right.
I just cannot get , or find the name of the PSU. I am pretty sure this is the full name of the new pc I bought. "

XUM Gaming PC Legend / Intel Core i7-3770 CPU | GTX 1050 Ti 4GB GPU | 16GB RAM | 256GB NVMe SSD | 1TB HDD

XUM. Thank you so much.

Ok you can't do a boot usb like that. All iso installs Windows Linux etc need to be burned in some format.
You need to burn Zorin with balenaEtcher. It is very easy to do.
Here is an install page. Click on me

Not that it matters for this install so much but we normally ask for Speccy link so we can see any programs
or settings that may be causing issues Not really need now..

Thank you PeterOz. I remember doing something like that in the past., when I was trying out duel booting. I will give that a go and see the results. No matter what, I shall get back to you to let you know how I got on.

All the very best for now.

Jimmy

Alas, after using Balen Etcher to burn the linux to a USB, it still did not boot from the usb, even after I changed the booting system to USB. I suppose I could burn it to a dvd and try that.

Hi PeterOz,
I tried Unbuntu like you suggested. I used balenaEtcher and burned it to a USB. It went on without a hitch. I think I can now regard this problem as solved.
Of course, not without the brilliant help I got from you Guys. Thank you all so very much.
