Network Corrupted?

Status
Not open for further replies.
I have been having trouble connecting a new printer to my windows 10 laptop and the HP support line have told me that the Network is Corrupt and tried to sell me some expensive solutions which I didn't feel very confident in. We don't seem to have any problems with our internet connection. I am quite worried that there is a more significant issue with my computer that I need to address, but also I would be grateful for some help with how to go about connecting my printer!
Many thanks in advance.

make/model of printer?
how are you trying to connect it; directly with a USB cable, over your wifi network directly to the printer, or printer connected to modem/router?

what have you tried, and what is the error message?

Its a HP Deskjet 2700 and we're trying to connect it wirelessly via the network.
I am most worried about being told that my network is corrupted. I have never heard of this before and I'm worried whether it is still safe to use the computer? Should I be doing something about that?

Sorry but HP are fobbing you off with the proof being that they can fix it but it will be expensive.

Lets get some system info;

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Just a fyi, HP printers have been a nightmare for many users since Flash Player became end of life, example being my perfectly good printer will no longer report ink levels.

When you install the driver & printer programs it should offer the option to use wired or wireless, by choosing wireless it should show a box the enter the SSID & Passphrase of the wireless network. Is this showing?
There’s a firmware update for the printer available, have you installed this?
