Recently, I'm experiencing a problem with my laptop. I have a dell latitude e6420 without a battery, It keeps on booting up automatically when plugged then prompts me to set up time&date everytime when plugged. At first i thought it was the failure of Cmos battery, I replaced the cmos battery then configured the bios but no luck so far the problem still coming up again n again. I need help with this and i also need to know if this is worrisome in the future incase more problems might arrive due to this. I hope you guys can help me out with this..

Hello

Sounds like the laptop setup uses the battery to keep the time/date current..
It doesn't have a battery tho, until this problem occured everything was working fine when plugged. I dont know what happened all of a sudden. I tried to go thru the bios and did changes with the boot priorities n such, everything is getting saved according to my configurations except this date&time plus the auto boot when plugged. (Even the option called "wake on AC" is unchecked as well)

Sounds like you have to replace the CMOS battery.

The CMOS battery on that system is located just to the left of the WiFi Card.

But the Cmos battery is already replaced with the new one I've bought it from the website with Two pin connector like 2 days ago. yet it still automatically Boots on its own when plugged and prompts me to set up Time&Date every time.

The in that case you will need to refer to your manual there is a jumper on motherboards that is set incorrectly.

Check to make sure that windows is configured correctly for your time zone.

As a last resort see if there is a BIOS update

The bios is up-to-date, After i setting up the time&date everytime in boot up, in windows time and date it is exactly the same as i saved it before. Nothing has changed inside windows at all. Incase if this issue can't be fix let me know if it is concerning in the future like whether it is a minor issue or major issue..

May not get updates if the date and time are incorrect.
System may not boot.
You did connect the battery correctly?
The battery may be bad they loose power just sitting on the shelf.
What is the time zone that windows is set for and do you have it configured to sync the clock?
Do you have any things that is over clocked?
Have you scanned for virus and malware (some places I have read suggested)
