Mystery G-Drive

Hi,

My 5 year old Dell is telling me that my G Drive is almost full, every time I boot up. I then click a pop up that aims to free more space on it.
The thing is - I don't have a G-drive(?!!) - only a C and D drive.

The G drive *is* listed in the File Explorer as a Local Drive....there is one USB port that doesn't work - are they connected in some way?

The PC seems to be slowing down recently and I'm wondering if it has something to do with this?

There was a problem with 1809 which was showing the recovery drive & saying it was full, this was due to an update adding a drive letter to this partition. Could this be the problem in your case?
The solution was to remove the drive letter:
Click your Start Button, type cmd, then right click Command Prompt and choose 'Run as Administrator'

Run this command and hit Enter

diskpart

Run this command and hit Enter

select volume X (Replace X with the actual drive letter - G)

Run this command and hit Enter

remove letter=X (Replace X with the drive letter - G)

Close Command Prompt and the problem will be resolved

If this is too confusing then you should also be able to remove the drive letter via drive/disc management.
