I accidently cracked my laptop screen so i tried to connect it with a vga monitor which was bought a few years ago.I used an hdmi to vga cable and a vga cable to connect them but still it is showing no signal on the monitor.I have looked into many youtube videos and still cant find the solution. The monitor and the cables work fine so i dont know whats the problem. My laptop screen is cracked but its a small crack so i can see on the other side of the screen.my laptop cant detect the external vga monitor.

Hello

We need the laptop spec's.. I have a laptop you need to press a combination of keys for a monitor, maybe this one does.

Device name LAPTOP-INQIAB4J
Processor AMD Athlon Silver 3050U with Radeon Graphics 2.30 GHz
Installed RAM 4.00 GB (3.44 GB usable)
Device ID 59EF6EE0-3BCE-4DC4-AD8A-270FA27EC053
Product ID 00327-36273-13705-AAOEM
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display

While you have the vga monitor plugged into the laptop, go into device manager and uninstall the graphics driver and reboot the computer. If that fails, then go into device manager and select monitors then right click and scan for hardware changes.

in that case we are sort of stuck with offering further suggestions. :)

either you simply can't connect an external monitor - for whatever reason, or the method you are using needs tweaking.

getting your hands on a monitor with a HDMI port, and using a HDMI to HDMI cable will narrow down the reasons, like, is your HDMI to VGA adpater to blame, is your monitor at fault?

no friend, neighbours, work colleagues, family members you could burrow a screen for a few minutes?

The OP needs to be prepared to help themselves by either sourcing an external screen or taking the notebook to a local tech who can test it for them.

We are here to offer help where we can but need to draw a line on occasion.
