Examples of good and bad caps + some good info here

It is a rather odd issue that you are having for sure, before opening up the notebook to inspect the caps I would do the most basic of cleans with canned compressed air first and with the RAM removed from the slot/s, example cleaning guide here

Thanks Phillpower2, I'm going to try that and post the results. I'm at a point that I have to try everything.

Any update jrobb?
Unfortunately I have no update. I am stumped. I have gotten great suggestions from the forum and local technicians. Some have helped my situation. A "power reset" is no longer need each time. But none have solved the problem. I guess I am going to have to live with having to remove/insert the battery each time I power on the laptop.

. I am stumped.
Got to admit - so am I

The situation that you are in with the notebook would not bother me as I only run the notebook on battery every couple of weeks, run it out of charge, recharge it then store it in the filing cabinet until the next exercise, same battery from new seven years ago :)

Thanks for the support Phillpower2. I use my laptop the same way that you do. The problem is that it will not turn on with only the A/C power connected. The battery must be in. So each time I turn it on, I must disconnect the HDMI, Ethernet and Adapter, turn it over remove the battery and reinsert it. It's a big hassle. Keep your ears to the ground. If you hear anything let me know. Thanks again.

Will do (y)

Curious, do you have to remove the battery even when the HDMI, Ethernet and adaptor have not been connected.

You are welcome btw :)
Yeah. If the laptop is off for about 4 hours or more, I have to remove the battery no matter what, in order to turn it on. I can run it on A/C without the battery, no problem. If I turn it off for less than 4 hours, I can turn it off and on all day with A/C only. But if I turn it off for more than 4 hours, I must insert the battery A/C power or not. Go figure.
