Solved Mouse Pointer Problem

Hi - I've no idea how this happened, but suddenly my mouse pointer ceased to function on my second screen. Now it only functions on the laptop screen, and does so even if I maintain 'extend' (via Win key + P). On the other hand the mouse key continues to function if I first select 'Second Screen Only' (again via Win key + P). Also, anything that happens to be on the second screen now decamps to the laptop screen if I select 'PC Screen Only'. I am completely baffled and have no idea why it happened or what to do about. So any suggestions how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

My Asus notebook laptop is running on Windows 8.1 Home Edition (with a Classic shell).
